Vehicle Detail

*BUY IT NOW BONUS (details near the end of this description). PLEASE READ this ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING OR BUYING!! I have up for bid, a highly customized and modified 1980 Suzuki GS1000G cafe racer, 100% STREET LEGAL. The bike presently has a VT registration which expires August 2014 (certificate is right under the seat in the tail storage compartment) and is also insured. Bike has 37,733 original miles and is a 5 speed with trouble-free shaft drive. Once you've turned on the gas to fill the 4 carb float bowls, give it about 20 seconds to completely fill all 4 float bowls, pull the left side choke on full and rapidly twist the throttle WIDE open 3 or 4 times, then just press the starter button and this bike starts right up and growls like the beast that it truly is. PLEASE NOTE that the little red rocker switch above the black starter pushbutton serves as a STARTER DISABLE SWITCH. If the starter does not turn, just hit the little red rocker switch and the starter will work just fine when pressing the black starter pushbutton. This is a big powerful bike and NOT FOR A BEGINNER. It is also not a quiet bike (Kerker megaphone header). Just the 4 carbs, 4 air filters & throttle assembly alone are worth my starting bid price, so someone is going to get a good deal here. The MANY HIGH PERFORMANCE & RACING PARTS on this bike are worth MORE than the BUY IT NOW price! So this listing is an absolute NO-BRAINER...especially for anyone who works on older bikes or already has a larger sized old GS around. VERY COMFORTABLE for both rider and passenger, this old beast handles & corners impressively well! Out of the 22 or 23 motorcycles i have owned (some much newer and way more expensive), this is by far my FAVORITE EVER; due to it's perfect balance of classic nostalgic naked bike look, riding comfort, great handling and raw power. I just don't have the time to do much riding or maintenance anymore, so I'm done with motorcycles until i can afford to quit my over-the-road expedite trucking job (48 states) for good :-( The bike will include the indispensable Clymer shop manual, Mikuni performance tuning manual & MANY SPARE PARTS, both new & used. The details of this bike are as follows: Custom pin striping by Big Daddy George of Staten Island (eBay seller BIG-DADDY-GEORGE), Straight drag bars, newly reupholstered seat, new billet aluminum Oberon LED turn signals, custom made braided front brake lines, Wiseco BIG BORE KIT, ported & polished head, webb cams, stainless steel valves & springs, 4 Mikuni RS36 racing carbs, Pingle high flow fuel petcock (NO RESERVE, just ON & OFF), 3/8" fuel lines, 4 APE pod filters (just like K&N), Kerker 4-into-1 exhaust header, Dyna high energy ignition, Koni rear shocks, Progressive front springs, BALLISTIC 400CCA high performance battery, 12V lighter socket, good pair of Metzeler Lasertec tires, performance clutch pack with 3 stock springs & 3 Barnett springs (alternated & balanced). Please email me (Scott) or call my cell @ (860)-307-2460 with SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. Bike location is Jaffrey, NH. . .very close to RED'S gas station & garage. LOCAL PICKUPS ONLY!!! THE FLAWS: This bike still gets a LOT OF COMPLIMENTS because it sounds great and the flaws cannot be seen until you actually look for them at very up-close distance of 2 to 3 ft. Overall, I would rate it an 8 on the 10 scale of cosmetics. Rear caliper has just begun to hang up (stick) a bit, but there is a rear caliper rebuild kit included, as well as new organic pads for all 3 calipers. There is a minor oil seepage where the tachometer cable screws into the cylinder head and it needs a new O-ring seal. There is a little bit of oil on the engine & lower case (front only), due to the minor oil leak (didn't have time to clean it up after my last weekend home, riding it all weekend) and that is why I started the bid at $900 rather than $1000. There is a small dent in the passenger side of the tank; been there since i bought the bike (you need to get pretty close to see it). There are some scratches on the top of the tank, waaay up toward the handlebars. The plastic (cosmetic) side covers have some nicks and a couple of minor cracks here & there; but NOT dry-rotted as found on so many older bikes. This can be easily halted by using fiberglass or epoxy on the inside of the plastic side covers. The front wheel bearings MAY need to be replaced soon. New front & rear wheel bearing sets are included in the bin full of parts. Some punk-ass dweeb in VT actually STOLE the Kerker emblem off my Kerker header! The rivets were perfectly fine just before it suddenly disappeared. Paint is chipped on the back of the fuel tank, where the front of the seat meets/overlaps the tank (not very visible until you unlock & lift the hinged seat). There are some scratches and nicks here & there on the frame, swing arm, etc...this IS after all a 33 year old bike and it has not been just sitting in a shop, garage or museum all these years. I know i have the original TITLE somewhere for this bike, I just need to find it. As mentioned before, this bike presently has a VT registration which expires August 2014(certificate is right under the seat in the tail storage compartment) and is also insured. PLEASE NOTE that VT DMV DID NOT NEED TO SEE THE TITLE to register this bike; only the BILL OF SALE. If you CHECK WITH DMV IN YOUR STATE, you may very well find that you also DO NOT NEED A TITLE to register a motor vehicle that is 33 years old; but only a BILL OF SALE. PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR STATE DMV and be sure to CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING OR BUYING if this is a concern in your state. SPARE PARTS INCLUDED; NEW: Spare generic horns, NGK spark plugs, K&N Performance Gold oil filter with gaskets, float bowl gaskets, jets, Starter solenoid, starter rebuild kit, front brake lever SWITCH, Rear caliper rebuild kit, rear pads, 2 sets front pads, wheel bearings both front & rear, tank rubbers, clutch cover gasket, hardware, control cables, smaller gaskets and probably even more that i can't recall. USED: Hella horns, hardware, chrome cam end covers, rear grab bar, 4 K&N oval pod air filters, Clymer shop manual, Mikuni tuning manual and probably more. *MAINTENANCE TIP/WORDS OF CARBURETOR WISDOM: NEVER let a CARBURETED BIKE SIT with GAS IN THE LOWER FLOAT BOWLS OF THE CARBS! When you know you will be parking the bike for awhile, turn the fuel petcock OFF and let the engine run until it dies. This will use up all the gas in the float bowls. If you have an automatic/vacuum activated petcock, DISCONNECT the fuel supply line and plug it with a screw. Run the engine until it dies OR pop the drains on all float bowls and DRAIN THEM COMPLETELY. Close the drain plugs after 5 or 10 minutes and park the bike on the CENTER STAND, milk crate, transmission jack or bike stand, so that all 4 carbs are equally level. Lean it against a wall, tractor or bull dozer...anything that will keep the bike very close to being level. Put a thick old piece of carpet or rubber under the tires, so that the tires are not in direct contact with the freezing cold ground. You will not have flat spots on your tires, clogged pilot jets, stuck floats or gummed-up float valves when you go to start your bike in the spring time! You will not need to pull off your float bowls to clean the carbs, because they will already be clean! **This customized vintage motorcycle is sold strictly AS-IS and there are absolutely NO RETURNS or WARRANTEES implied. You are more than welcome to go to JAFFREY, NH and check out the bike before bidding or buying. Just contact me for the address of where the bike is located. Bring a cell phone with you. If you dump or drop the bike in any way, YOU JUST BOUGHT IT for $1500 with the BUY IT NOW BONUS included (read 2 paragraphs down). DO NOT test ride the bike if you are unwilling to abide this condition! You WILL BE REQUIRED to show your motorcycle license to my neighbor friend and sign a conditional damage disclaimer. If you're not buying it, put the bike back exactly as you found it (covered and on the center stand with the forks LOCKED), after shutting OFF the fuel valve and running the engine until it dies (empty float bowls). You should ONLY be test riding the bike if you HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY IT. If you do test ride it, chances are approximately 99.9% that you WILL WANT IT, because it is a real man's motorcycle, not a whimpy little Sportster for petite little women to learn or train on lol. I'm slightly over 6ft tall and if i were any shorter, i'd have a tough time placing both heels on the ground when i sit on this wide, chubby big bike. ***ATTN YOU MUST READ THIS!!!*** To bid on this bike, you MUST be able to PREPAY WITH PAYPAL and send someone to JAFFREY, NH 03452 to PICK IT UP. You CAN ride it, but it is MIGHTY CHILLY in NH right now and the tires will NOT have much traction on freezing cold blacktop, asphalt or concrete! I would recommend a pickup truck or trailer...and bring the help you need to get it loaded (bike weighs about 562LBS DRY and over 600LBS when full of gas and oil). I will most likely be UNABLE to ship, deliver or ride this bike to your location. I am a FULL TIME, 48 state expedite TRUCK DRIVER and i RARELY EVER GET HOME. You will be able to knock on my downstairs neighbor's door to get the keys and the 7" x 14" x 16" yellow plastic bin full of spare parts & manuals. The bike will be parked out back with a black & yellow cover on it, which you are also welcome to grab with the bike. Plenty of room out back for a pickup truck or bike trailer, because it is a circle type driveway which wraps all the way around the building. ****BUY IT NOW BONUS! If you choose the BUY IT NOW option and send your Paypal payment within 3 days of auction end, you will receive a 3 PIECE NELSON-RIGGS MOTORCYCLE LUGGAGE SET (all in black with white reflective trim); AS WELL AS a FREE HELMET. The Nelson-Riggs motorcycle luggage set consists of one pair of saddlebags, one large tank bag and another "multi-compartment" bag which can be strapped onto the passenger seat if/when you are NOT carrying a passenger. You may also choose ONE of the following 3 helmets: 2 KBC SNELL helmets in size LARGE (2 different awesome color schemes)...or a DOT approved helmet, which is gloss black with a beautiful red & gold imperial dragon, in size XL. IF you can manage to send me Paypal payment within 24HRS of auction end, then you may pick out 2 of the 3 available helmets to grab with your purchase :-) This bike is also ADVERTISED FOR SALE OR TRADE LOCALLY and as such, i reserve the right to CANCEL THIS LISTING AT ANY TIME. Thanks for viewing my listing. Have a stellar day.....and ride safely :-) KB1BBY/Scott
