Also has a car cover/dust cover. Serial number 8025547 Only 43,715 miles on it It's a three-speed manual but it has a feature called free wheeling where you can shift through the gears without using the clutch as long as you are already rolling. I purchased a new six volt battery in 2012 New tires in 1986 Last owner had this car for 55 years, did proper “overwintering” procedures every year. Good Tennessee Open Title. Built in South Bend, IN; then spent most of its life in Lockport, NY. I bought it in Santa Fe, TN. Car is now located in Murfreesboro, TN 11/07/13: Received question about how well it runs. It runs and drives fine. I replaced the spark plug wires, had brakes relined, have gone through the carburetor and fuel pump. I had purchased it with the intent of turning it into a street rod, but decided it was just too nice a car to do that. I've driven it about ten miles total. No problems noted with the running, driving of car. 11/07/13: Hyperlink updated, think this one will work okay for you: To see it being driven: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17yEHi7R_tY If the link above does not work, go to YouTube and search on1931 Studebaker Commander Eight(uploaded by Starz222Kumbiana) A $1000 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required or cashiers check within 48 hours of auction end. This well-preserved vehicle has wire wheels with wide Whitewall tires, and is equipped with dual side mount spare tires, dual chrome cowl lights, a crank-out windshield with wind deflectors, pop-up vent at the top of the cowl, and a non-factory rear luggage carrier. Production of the all-new, 1931 Commander Series 70 line began in July 1930 and continued to Sept. 1931. New styling features included a V-shaped radiator, larger, oval shaped headlights and parking lights atop the front fenders. The new single bar bumper, of sturdier construction, had a V-shaped dip in its center. The Commander wheelbase grew to 124 inches. Standard equipment included a speedometer, gasoline gauge, thermometer, ignition lock, non-shatterable glass, vacuum wiper, tail and stop light and Lovejoy shock absorbers. Free wheeling was also standard. The Commander had Bendix four-wheel mechanical brakes, an adjustable steering wheel, carburetor intake silencer and starter controls on the instrument panel. Kelsey-Hayes 31 inch wood spoke wheels were standard on standard models. Wire spoke wheels were included on the Commander.
