Vehicle Detail

You don't see these every day for sale or maybe ever! I bought this car at an estate sale where it had been in the barn for over 25 years. The auction gave me a title for the car from 1984 and I have that title and VIN in my name however the title does not match the trim tag on the car which I understand is common on these cars. I have been told that they were often titled from the engine numbers then most engines were swapped out. The numbers I have on the title and car are as follows: Title:10591121 Tag on the car 1-0488220 Body # (stamped below tag) 15-13803 Other #'s from the tag Typ- 1/15 Then below: 1160 Below that: 80 Under the vin: 1953 and the column below the year has : 680 The engine is 2121649. The pan is from a later model and I have not gotten the numbers yet. The pictures represent what the car is. It really is in great restorable condition. Windows roll up and down well, the top folds back well (after lubricating the pivot points. The car is missing the back seat, the rear view mirror, sun visors, back window and other misc. parts. What you see is what you get. I do know where almost all of the parts can be bought. correct "ribbed" rear fenders. The car has accessory seat recliners, Correct deck lid with rain guards, correct ribbed doors, correct steering wheel, semaphores etc. There is a fantastic website that has a wealth of information on these cars. www.thesamba.com That's where I went after I bought the car and picked up tons of info. Please look the pictures over and don't hesitate to get ahold of me for more pictures or details on the car. I'm also available if you want to set an appointment to look at it in person. Thanks for looking! The reserve I feel is very very fair and low. I'm sure the car will find a new home. I wish I could keep it and restore it but I have too many irons in the fire already. On Nov-04-13 at 06:08:47 PST, seller added the following information: I got the number off of the pan this morning. That number is 3108235. Please make sure if you have any questions ask them before the auction ends and I'm happy to show the car in person if anyone would like to see it.On Nov-05-13 at 15:23:25 PST, seller added the following information: I just re-read my description and one thing is a little confusing. The car does have correct "ribbed" rear fenders. The car has accessory seat recliners, Correct deck lid with rain guards, correct ribbed doors, correct steering wheel, semaphores etc. I typed these items in after I typed what the car was missing and didn't really clarify that. The Car does NOT run or drive, the I think 2 or 3 of the tires hold air. I have been getting lots of emails for additional pictures. I started a thread on the samba when I bought the car. I have several additional pictures there and a lot of information from people who are much more knowledgeable on these cars than I am. Here is a link to the thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=572608&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Good luck bidding and please if you are going to have the car shipped make sure those arrangements are made prior to the end of the auction. Car is sold as is/ where is. On Nov-06-13 at 12:33:04 PST, seller added the following information: Please don't bid on the car if you are going to retract or not follow through with your bid. The bidder that retracted the bid today stated that I changed the description which is not an accurate statement. For everyone else Thank you for looking and best of luck bidding! On Nov-10-13 at 06:42:39 PST, seller added the following information: Nearly 300 watchers on the car now! If you are planning to bid last minute keep that in mind. Good luck to everyone and Thanks for checking out the auction!
