Vehicle Detail

Start (or finish) your winter project early. I am selling my 1961 Corvette that I have owned since 1988. I started the restoration then and I have never had the car on the road. Between marriage, 3 houses, 2 kids and divorce, I have gotten it to the point it is in today and I have lost my grit. The car is about 90% complete in terms of work needed, but I have all the parts necessary for completion. The car has not been registered or on the road since 1973. It has never been hit and all body panels are original. I have pictures of the car without paint if interested. The car is an original fuelie but I am missing the fuel injection unit. It has a 283 cu in engine in it that I rebuilt and it runs beautifully. I am not sure if it is the original engine. My thoughts on that are if you want a numbers match car, you can go spend a whole lot more money for a #'s match car that someone has probably forged any way. It amazes me how many "#'s Match" corvettes there are out there. I bought the car with a good amount of NOS parts and anything that I have bought has been NOS. Most of the trim and emblems are NOS. The bumpers are original and are in great condition for a driver. If you want show quality, I would say that a rechrome is in order. The car was painted over 5 years ago and is as fresh today as the day it was painted. The guy who painted it really did an amazing job. I did not do a body off restoration, but all brakes and suspension parts were new when I installed them. I have 2 tops for the car. The convertible top is a reproduction cage and rag and is brand new. I also have an original removable hard top that is in excellent condition but in need of restoration. There is also a complete Al Knoch interior. I have everything from carpets to door panels. I have already covered the seats and installed the dash pad which are also Al Knoch. What's needed to complete the restoration? The rest of the dash needs to be assembled. I have all the original gauges and cluster. The forward wiring harness is new and installed but needs to be connected. I have a new rear wiring harness in the box. I have all weather strips and gaskets. Some miscellaneous trim and rear bumpers need to be installed. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I have set the reserve at $35,000.
