Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is "Old Black Betty", she is a 1971 Ford Hi-Boy. Betty is one classy old chic and has many options that are not usually found on trucks of her era, including air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. I have spent a considerable amount of time fixing up the old gal since she was not quite mechanically sound when I got her. She is now reliable and I often take her out for short trips through parts unknown. Her brakes are new, front and back, and I did replace her steering column with a new one from ididit inc., so she now has tilt steering and her dimmer switch has been moved from the floor to the column. The installation went smoothly and everything works great. Betty's drivetrain has a 390 engine, C6 transmission, a divorced transfer case and 4.10 gears in her front and rear axles, which in the front is the closed knuckle Dana 44 design and the rear axle is a Dana 60. Her engine has plenty of power and runs good, although it does leak some oil. It doesn't leak that much and doesn't smoke or burn any oil. The air conditioning on Betty does work but the freon eventually leaks out, I usually just keep refilling it as I haven't had time to find the leak. Her exhaust does have a leak also, I have tightened some things up and it did help but the leak is still there, she will need new exhaust more sooner than later. Betty's body is in pretty good condition for a truck of her age. There is some rust and some dents but overall the body is solid, although she does have some rust issues starting in all of the typical places for trucks of this body style. She has new wheels that are 17 x 9 XD series and the tires are 35 " Kumho's, which have just enough tread left on them to pass inspection. That should cover most questions that everybody will have, so I will finish by saying that there is no doubt that you want "Old Black Betty", the only thing left to do is ask yourself, "am I badass enough to own a truck this awesome?"
