Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 100% race ready 1979 RM250. I will try to list everything that I have done to it in preparation for vintage racing. I have done 2 15 minute motos on this bike. So it has 30 minutes of run time on it. If you put new plastics and a seat cover on it, it would look like all the other over priced "restorations" out there. I can get this to Davenport, Iowa for $100. Ask first before bidding if this is something you are interested in. I also have a shipper that can deliver to your door uncrated very reasonably: Contact R1R6 Express for a quote. There is no title - eBay makes you put something in that field. I raced it as you see it in these pics. It runs very well. I had no complaints. If there were a race close to me I would take this without hesitation. What I have done: 0.030" single ring wiseco piston main bearings/seals oemAll gaskets OEM, no RTVClutch side cover had a hole from kick start lever, fixed with epoxy New clutch cable All new oem engine mounting hardware Carb from 79 YZ250 Buchanan stainless spokes and nipples in rear laced to original rim. Not 100% straight as the original rim was tweaked but it is very very close and you would not know unless I told you. 1980 airbox so there is not a boss for the rear fender. Rear fender is cracked under seat New fork seals and oil Tires were on it when I got it - Kenda Millville with lots of life Silencer is modern FMF from a KTM. I expanded the tube to fit the RM expansion chamber. In doing that, a small crack formed in the tube at the welded joint to the silencer body. A dab of silicone sealed it. Tube is stainless. Expansion chamber headpipe is has a very small crack starting. I used JB weld to fix 2 small pin holes on the seem that I noticed right before I was leaving for the race. Chain and sprockets were very fresh when I bought bike. New rear sprockets bolts Swing arm is a 1979 arm with new bearings. Top chain roller had been poorly repaired at some point. I removed it and put a 1980 style guard on it (I drilled 2 holes and tapped them for this guard). The swingarm pivot has been repaired, new bearings installed New brake shoes and bearing in hubs Seat cover is separating on back seam. Tape is there to keep water out of foam until a new cover is installed. Front number plate was NOS before I put numbers on it. From the pictures, you see the 1979 style chain tensioner and guide. I replaced almost if not all the rubber wheels with XR650 chain rollers. Some were cut down to fit in location, etc. Looks correct for year and works but not 100% correct There was a hole in the bottom left side of the frame that I had repaired. Lots of new parts I have forgotten about, seals, bearings, nuts, bolts, etc...
