Take a little time and do your due diligence by finding similar quality/mileage cars for an accurate current price evaluation. A Rep from Barrett Jackson Auctions I know who viewed the car - told me I should expect at least low $teens (after fees), but I don't want to wait around with this in storage for auction and don't need to squeeze every penny out of it- this is a fun hobby for me and if I break close to even that is fine with me. IF miles and condition aren't important to you - don't bother looking any further- plenty of those out there. The closest apples to apples comparison I could find priced fairly (private party) - dealers price higher -is this 1992 SC400 in Chicago- went to see it because it was so close. Same miles (that one has 3k less), ran OK, and was pretty legit/decent overall car and current owner bought from original owner- but when you get down to the "detail" = that is where this SC pulls away from it's fellow SC counterparts (see picture of said car below). Comparison: *BODY not as nice *INTERIOR same- some driver seat wear *ENGINE/PERFORMANCE not as nice *PAPERWORK = had manuals, but did NOT have Window Sticker / receipts.- owner advertised on ebay, but reserve was not met because the high bid was only $11,000 and it did not sell. A decent car, and he's asking a fair price. IMPORTANT: When buying any low mileage car make sure hoses and belts are are in top condition (like this car)- otherwise they dry, fade, and crack from just sitting (can be $$). It's important to run the car on a regular basis - highway, change fluid levels, and clean everything to avoid oxidation build up. Lastly - a few tip-offs on what I look for when I examine used cars: fluids- at proper levels, belts-hoses- fresh soft/supple, not even the slightest tick in the engine, check for any leaks, tire and brake wear, transmission shifts smoothly, no corrosion under-doors-wheel wells-underside of hood, accessories function correctly- power antenna-seat especially - make sure motors not wearing down (can be costly fixes). = this car passes all the tests. NO RESERVE AUCTION (with low opening bid to get the ball rolling)!!- I know bidders don't like reserves- I have faith this will result in a fair price.You can see from the ebay feedback left from past cars sold I pride myself on being accurate in the description. These always look great displayed at car shows- youThese are RARE to find on SC400- no one really anticipated these carshaving collector status back in the 90's - which is why the prices just starting to escalate on the low mileage clean versions like this one. Automatic Transmission (only transmission option on the SC400) is a pretty sharp set-up. Gives you a "cockpit" like feel with a flight stick like shifter! (Below) this picture shows more of both how well the car is constructed as well as how nice the condition of this car is in- typically the door jams can be somewhat rough, but as you can see theshine is not limited to the exterior body. As mentioned earlier - everyone was excited by the release of the SC - the most popular car magazines couldn't praise it enough. Some exerts from these pubs below. Tunes are important- cassette and old school CD players are really a thing of the past whichis why I use a FM transmitter to listen to all my MP3 (included).
