Bought new at Home Motors Chevrolet in Santa Maria, Ca. this Chevelle has spent its life in central Califonia’s mild climate and most of it’s time with it’s original owner. Sold in the late 90’s to a neighbor the car was transformed, (paint, wheels, air suspension, etc.) into it’s current configuration. Car retains the original yellow on blue Ca plates as well as the original chrome dealers license plate holder. This Chevelle is super straight, mostly original, virtually rust free and low original miles. Exterior - Pictures accurately represent overall condition, which is great to excellent but not a show car yet, though I suspect it could be in the right hands. Repaint was done very well, is super glossy, is in great shape but has a few dings and imperfections. I would rate the paint at 8 on a scale of 10, 10 being show quality.Chrome parts and trim are original and in great to excellent condition. Though minor, some patina is present on various chrome components and certainly expected for vehicle of this age. Interior – Very good to excellent condition. Seats are flawless and were reupholstered when the car was painted in the early 00's. I believe carpets are original and are in great shape. There is a small tear in headliner above driver seat. Light switch knob as well as the cigarette lighter are missing. Other than seats, steering wheel, cd player, and air gauges, interior is stock. The Malibu rides on air suspension and connects to the road via 17” Alloy 5 spoke wheels with Hankook Ventus ii 235/45R17’s tires up front and 275/40 R17’s in the rear. VIAIR universal air bag suspension system is activated via retro game controller. Rust – I say the car is virtually rust free because there are two areas where I can see bubbles under paint. One area, about the size of a dime, above the left tail lights is pictured. The other area is in one lower corner of the rear window. You have to look twice to notice it but it is there. Other than these two areas I would consider the car in exceptional rust free condition. Underneath the car is clean as any 42yr old “driver” out there. Whether the result of low mileage or restoration efforts the undercarriage is nearly as impressive as the rest of the vehicle. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition. Everything works as it should and if there is a low point of the car it would be the straight 6 engine, (if you happen to be looking for a big muscle, muscle car) but even then the engine starts and runs smooth and does not appear to burn oil. Car drives straight, shifts smooth and stops just like a drum brake car is expected. Overall this Chevelle Malibu is in excellent condition and could be whatever it’s new owner wants it to be. As is the car would make a great driver, or, it could be an incredible beginning towards transformation into a big hp muscle car it has always dreamed of being.
