Vehicle Detail

This is what I've been told by the prior owner (purchased on eBay 2 years ago): "The car has a 1972 Nova sub-frame with power steering, power disc brakes in front, small block TPI injected Chevy motor, 700r tranni (has overdrive), Ford 8" rear, manual convertible top (I believe it was hydraulic originally, may still have some pump parts), seatbelts for front/rear passengers." Spare parts I will include in this auction: rear fender skirts in original blue paint; misc. chrome/rusty pieces and catalogs that I was given with car The a/c and heat work very well. A nice interior with black carpets and grey cloth seats with some blue vinyl edging, all in great condition. The speedo works intermittently though it does have updated "retro" gauges. The doors are shaved and the driver's door has the remote opener which needs to be played with to work correctly. The passenger does not have the remote opener. I just reach in and use the handle. That door could use some adjusting as it shuts, but not perfectly flush. The radio is currently not working and I haven't looked into it yet (stereos are inexpensive these days). Steering wheel by Grant. Horn button doesn't work but I have a button on the dash for the horn. There is an auxiliary fuel pump button also on the dash. All the windows work fine though they can be a little stiff to roll up. One small crack in the front driver's glass on the top, about 1" long. Has been that way for 2 years without change. Engine runs good. It's all stock. I believe it's missing the MAF sensor which tells the car the correct mixture for cold start up. I usually have to crank the starter over 2-3x before it turns over. When it's warm it turns over more easily. Hence the fuel pump override button on the dash. I think there is a small leak on the rear seal, not too bad. Transmission shifts fine. Brakes are good. Could use an alignment, seems to pull a little to the right. The battery is mounted in the trunk and seems to turn the car over well. I had the fuel tank cleaned and put a new fuel pump in the tank. Car has some old school glass pack mufflers and sounds great especially when taking off. It does sound like I'm starting to get an exhaust leak underneath. You can't hear it when you're cruising. The top is in great shape, it's newer - a couple of years old, with a glass rear window. One snap button on front drivers side is missing one side of the snap, an easy fix. I've never driven with the top up but it does go up easily by hand and locks/snaps shut. The tires are brand new, maybe 200 miles on them, as are the Cragar rims with 20 yr anniversary caps (hard to find). I changed the front springs last year but I would probably put on some taller springs as the tires rub in turns sometimes. I would change the rear leafs as the car rides too low and too softly for my liking, especially with all the speed bumps in my area. The car has approx 4' ladder bars on the rear and my mechanic told me they're more there for looks and not doing much. The paint is a great "ten-footer" (looks great from 10' away). Kind of an amateur paint job/body work, but not horrible. Does look better in the photos than in person. If you're looking for a perfect show car, this is not it. On the other hand, every time I'm out people stop me to take photos as I drive by. Other than surface rust underneath, no major rust. Car has been kept in a climate controlled garage since I've owned it. The previous owner said he had it garaged for 10 years also. The car shakes, rattles but rolls. If you want a nice cruiser to drive as is like I have for the last two years, this is it. I see similar 40s and 50s convertibles going for 2-3x as much as this auction price. If there are questions, please email. I will post answers for all. I recommend if you're in the area to email and come take a look in person. I've tried to be as clear as possible in the description and know that it's difficult buying from a distance so I tried to be fully descriptive. Sold AS IS. Please see my other auctions for related items. Buyer to pay by PayPal within 3 days of auction close. Buyer to arrange and pay for prompt shipping. On Jul-28-13 at 18:00:48 PDT, seller added the following information:Do your research on 1940s and 50s convertibles as I did before buying this. I know that Fords and Chevys are more popular, but even rust buckets with no engines/transmissions will run you $8000+ range. I've priced this fairly with all the work done on the car already. It can be driven as is or re-done to your liking.
