Vehicle Detail

For auction with no reserve is a 1978 Fiat 124 Spider Convertible. I currently have this car registered and drive it on weekends during the summer. It runs fine has never left me walking but it is in need of some attention. Paint looks ok but does need to be re painted. Looks good from a distance but up close has clear coat separating and some small areas where body filler is coming up a bit. Body of car has no rust that I can find and has never been in any major accidents. Body is actually very straight. Engine is the 1800 DOHC and I personally rebuilt the engine myself years ago. Everything was done new at that time and engine still sounds perfect. About 25k on engine now. Has small oil leak not sure from where. Not a big enough issue that I needed to fix it immediately. 5 speed manual transmission works fine with no grinding between gears and clutch works great. Believe I replaced clutch when I did engine. Fiat does need a carrier bearing on the drive shaft. Under heavy acceleration this can be noticed otherwise car drives fine and don't notice it needs to be changed. Not an expensive fix just have not gotten around to doing it. This issue would be the only reason I would not attempt to drive this car long distances. I regularly drive 50 mile round trips with it no problem though. Fiat has had top replaced awhile ago, still in decent condition. Top does have some small stains from cotton wood seeds falling on it. Can be cleaned. Top has no rips and operates up and down as it should. Factory cover for top is in the trunk. Has full size spare and jack in trunk as well. Jack and lug wrench are not factory but work for car incase of flat tire. All lights and gauges work. Windows roll up and down properly. Doors open and close as they should. Has new BF Goodrich tires. Brakes work fine. Windshield is not cracked but has some cloudiness in the corners. Seats are nice. Back seats show some wear but fronts are very nice. Carpet is red in decent shape. Dash is cracked but has dash mat so looks decent. Bumpers were not included with car when I originally purchased car years ago. I never located replacement bumpers because they were just ugly and I didn't like the way they looked. The rear bumper that is seen pictured on Fiat now was something I was thinking about doing for bumpers and just never got any further with. Like the look of the car without bumpers personally. Good running driving old car but it is not perfect! I am selling this car as a project that someone can drive as they fix up. Have clear Colorado title for car. This car can be driven but I recommend it be trailered because of the carrier bearing. I have driven worse vehicles than this Fiat long distances but I still suggest car be trailered. Shipping costs will be paid by winning bidder. Shipping arrangements need to be made by winning bidder. I will assist in any other way with shipping. I can drive car to a pick up destination for example. A $500 Pay Pal deposit needs to be made after 24 hours of auction end. Car is being sold as is and I have described vehicle honestly and best I can. PLEASE ask questions prior to bidding and I will answer ASAP.On Jul-23-13 at 18:15:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Fiat has 89,000 original miles on it. I replaced the whole gauge cluster awhile back only because the tachometer and clock gauges were malfunctioning. This is why mileage is stated 0. I will find old gauges and include them in sale with car. Also l plan on adding some pics of under carriage of car. Thanks. On Jul-24-13 at 11:43:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Added pics of under carriage. Did find one area of rust underneath car and included that pic. No rust anywhere else. If anyone needs any other pics or details, please ask.On Jul-29-13 at 08:09:03 PDT, seller added the following information: A bidder on this vehicle has asked about the carrier bearing availability, so I checked and right here on eBay I found the part. Its more of a drive shaft support than a bearing # 181140214858. Also I found a complete drive shaft unit that shows the part and where it goes exactly on the drive shaft for an example. # 370553835443 Also wanted to add that in my description of vehicle I described car to be worse than it probably actually is just to avoid any buyers remorse ect... Its actually a decent little car that needs work and paint eventually, but I can honestly say it is a head turner and I ALWAYS get compliments on it when I take it out.
