Investment Grade California 1953 1st Edition Chevy 5 Window 3100 Thriftmaster Short Bed 4 Speed Project Truck Complete with Extras Up for your consideration is a 1953 Chevy 5 window 3100 Thriftmaster 4 speed short bed truck with clear title. If you are in the market for a classic short bed project truck this one is for you. I found this preserved 1st edition 1953 Chevy pick up truck at an estate sale up here in Bishop. My wife really wanted it so we bought it off it's third owner. This is a rock solid example of a 3100 Thriftmaster with very, very little significant rust/rot issues which is rare indeed for any old 60 year old Chevy truck. Loads of character & weathered patina. They made the 1st edition Chevy pick up trucks from 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 & lastly 1953. Original faded paint or what's left of it pictured. Upgraded 3/4 ton running gear from the factory? I'm sure one of you collectors will be able to research model info from the VIN numbers: 5KPK25586. Some of the usual dings & dents from farm use; However, in my humble opinion quite dry & well preserved for it's age. Previous owner said unit ran good before the sale & had stored in the barn for a couple of years. I have not attempted to start truck as I will leave that to the new owner. You will need to clean fuel tank, check brakes, points, plugs, & other tlc. Motor does spins freely. Clutch operates as it should. transmission shifts smoothly into & out of gear. Looks like the last owner recently installed a 12 volt battery upgrade with generator pictured. Looks to be fairly complete unit with many extra parts included inside the bed which is pictured. Unit has the stock 216ci inline 6 cylinder with a hard to find manual 4 speed on the floor. Original Chevy radio on dash unknown working condition is pictured. The bench seat will need a overhaul as it is just springs with a frame. Floorboards, bottom of doors, rocker panels, & cab corners are structurally rock solid. One very small 2.5 inch flat rust hole at bottom of rear cab. Otherwise near rust free as I described. Rear flat glass is NOT included. Not sure if any of the door glass is good either. Will need a complete restoration so bear that in mind if you intend to purchase. Please be aware I paid $5000.00 for this truck after some negotiations so it is a good investment right here.
