Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1966 Ford Galaxie 500. This vehicle has undergone a full frame off restoration. This vehicle spent most of it's life in the Western U.S., so it had very little rust prior to the restoration. All the original O.E.M. panels are still on this vehicle, not the thinner gauge replacement panels that you will find on many autos of this vintage. The restoration goal was to improve the reliability and driveability of this vintage automobile. Numerous upgrades and improvements were made along the way including: Gear Vendors Overdrive Transmission, 4 wheel power disc brakes and aftermarket power steering. The car shows beautifully and is ready to drive reliably across town or across the country without incident. It would be well suited for the Hot Rod Power Tour. Everything on this Galaxie works as it should. All interior lights work. All exterior lights including headlights, high beams, tail lights, brake lights and trunk lights work as they should. Wipers, heater, heater fan defroster etc. all function as they should. This Galaxie will not win the Pebble Beach concours d'elegance car show, but I would not hesitate driving it from New York city to attend the show. With the Gear Vendors overdrive I might actually be able to afford the gas. This is a stunning driver that will not disappoint you in looks, drivability or reliability. Engine: Numbers matching 390 cubic inch engine fully re-built with the following upgrades: forged pistons, roller rockers, Edelbrock aluminum intake and Holley performance carburetor. Drive Train: Re-built Ford C6 transmission. Completely rebuilt rear end and axles. The entire "pumpkin" was re-built and converted from a limited slip unit to a posi-trac rear end. A brand new Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive unit was added at a cost of $2,795. This is what Hot Rod Magazine says about the Gear Vendor product: "The Gear Vendors unit is a supplemental planetary gearbox that adapts to the output shaft of your existing transmission to provide an extra gear of 0.78:1. The initial benefit is the addition of a 22-percent overdrive in high gear, but because the Gear Vendors can be engaged in any gear, it actually doubles the number of ratios available in any transmission. For example, your TH350 becomes a six-speed (First, First/Over, Second, Second/Over, Third, Third/Over). Likewise, a four-speed manual or automatic becomes an eight-speed, and a five-speed becomes a ten-speed....Goes Faster: The Gear Vendors can provide the best of all worlds depending on how you use it: It can either improve acceleration, multiply your top speed, or improve your gas mileage. Therefore, it deserves our top honors in this category." Body: All original body panels beautifully re-finished. Re-chromed bumpers. Wheels and Brakes: Classic American Racing wheels. After market power assisted 4 wheel disc brakes. Fuel System: New fuel tank and fuel lines. Steering: New Concept One power steering pump and pulley system-$1495. The Concept One serpentine belt systems are built for performance and durability to ensure that your engine runs without compromising its drivability. Interior: Galaxie 500 XL interior with bucket seats and center console. New carpet. This Galaxie did not begin life as a 500 XL, but sports a transplanted XL interior. Glass: Windshield and windows are all in excellent shape. Top: Top is new and rear window is glass. The mechanism works flawlessly and raises and lowers as it should. Feel free to fly in and drive it home. Only 15 minutes from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul airport (MSP). Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Sold "As Is" with no warranty expressed or implied. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time because the car is for sale locally. On Jul-22-13 at 21:21:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Ladies and gentlemen in the interest of full disclosure, I stated "Everything on this Galaxie works as it should." After reading my representation I feel it is necessary to reveal that the dashboard clock is currently not working and the original AM radio does turn on but is scratchy at best. Other than these items, I stand by my previous statement. On Jul-26-13 at 10:06:16 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve HAS been met. This Galaxie will sell in 20 hours. Good luck to all bidders.
