Vehicle Detail

This is an absolutely wonderful little Gremlin!!! I hear that all the time around town and at shows. Even the Amc clubs think its a spectacular example of how they were meant to be. It won a gold award for the best Amc Stock vehicle at the Midwest Regional meet last year, which was the first show we had entered it in. It truly is a wonderful little car that I love to drive and have fun with, but we need to sell to buy a car for my son. This car needs to be with someone who loves it for a classic car and the great Gremlin that it is. Not to a teenage kid who won't appreciate it!!! It needs to be appreciated since it is such a wonderful example of times gone by and how simple life used to be!! So it is up for sale. The story of this car is quite interesting, since it was bought from a dealership in Cincinnati, Ohio by a lady who lived in Indiana. This dealership was named Tri-county Amc since they handled the three counties in the corner where Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana come together. She worked for ST. Francis Hospital and drove the car from 1974- 1977 when it was put into storage. It stayed in storage till 2011 when it was sold in her estate. It has a few scratches and some small dents and dings from sitting in storage all that time with belongings piled all over it. So she is not perfect but, quite wonderful and original. It was bought from the estate by a gentleman in North Carolina Who got it running and driving before reselling it to me.It has only received one OOPS since we have owned it when My wife backed into it with my truck. She was traumatized since it was her car and she had never run into anything. You will see in the pictures that there was only minor damage from this. I replaced the cracked headlight bezel and marker lens with NOS parts and pulled the fender out. I still have the broken bezel as it could be repaired and repainted to still have all original parts. Since I have owned it I have done much more to it so it could be driven and not worried about. I have just about completely gone thru the mechanicals of this car.Things that have been done are listed as follows: Changed engine oil and filterNew coil, plugs, cap, wires and electronic ignitionNew Valve cover gasket and breather hoseK&N air filter On Remanufactured carburetorReplaced water pump, belt, hoses and radiatorFlushed and filled coolant systemReplaced damaged air temperature hose between manifold and air cleanerReplaced Battery and starter relay, washer pump and reservoirReplaced brake shoes and wheel cylinders, bled systemNew tires except for original unused spare is still present Fluids were changed in transmission and rear endNew reverse light switch Replaced exhaust with a stainless steel system from the manifold back just like OEMI have new shocks but they have not been installedI have also replaced the rubber seals around the doors and rear windowIt has a NOS Gremlin gas cap plus I have a locking cap for it I believe that is most of everything but I might have missed something. I'm a mechanic by trade so I'm very particular about making sure my cars are safe and reliable. There is only a few places of surface rust which I have treated with rust killer and the entire underside of the car was undercoated when it was new, so that has helped it stay in such great shape. There is only one spot where it rotted in storage and that is right next to the battery in the inner fender-well. The batteries will tend to corrode and explode over that long of a period if they are not properly taken care of. This is not a big problem though and can be fixed by having a piece of metal spot welded back in and then painted. You could put a piece of sheet metal in or get one off of a parted out car to replace it with a piece of factory metal. Other than that one issue there is no rot thru or damage to the body of the car that would say it is rotten. Just a few surface places where I treated and bruises from storage and my wife of course. If you wanted a pristine car you could have the body repaired and painted, otherwise you could keep it the way it is as an original, with original paint. I consider it a classic example of a cleaned up true barn find for lack of a true saying. Its a "True Survivor"!!!!! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me thru ebay or by phone at 614 769-8372 my name is Tilor as in Tyler Thank you and I look forward to talking with you.
