A beautiful collector-quality example of this relatively rare and increasingly desirable bike. The DOT date code on the sidewalls of the tires is a few months before the build date on the VIN plate of the bike. This virtually guarantees that they are the tires this bike wore in the showroom and that the odometer mileage is genuine. I was very pleased when I found and bought this bike as I had always wanted one of these tres-cool bikes. When I brought it home, I put it up on the lift and began giving it my usual thorough inspection/service. The closer I looked, the more extraordinary this particular bike became. Having something this perfect in my care makes me nervous - I ride my bikes more than polish them. So I bought a couple of non-running FT500s to build myself a rider and am passing this one on to a collector - or someone who wants a virtually brand-new 31 year-old FT500 Ascot. Of course, if you plan on riding it other than at shows, the tires should be replaced with new - but keep the originals. The pix show the exceptional condition of this bike. I will be pleased to take/send more pix on request and answer any/all questions. If you are close enough to come inspect the bike in person, bring your compression tester, leak-down tester, multi-meter and any other diagnostic equipment you have - it will pass all tests with flying colors. Please have the bucks in your account to make the $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hrs. of winning the auction - and the balance within two business days. But I'm semi-flexible and will agree to other reasonable arrangements on request - such as the balanced in cash upon pick-up. If you think you have seen this bike listed here before, you are correct - twice, in fact. Both times the winning bidder turned out to be a dead-beat. Computer keyboards should come with a breathalyzer interlock. If I could, I would reject all bids made after 9 PM. A side-note about Ebay contracts - they are not enforceable contracts. There is absolutely no case law supporting Ebay's claim that they are. No one has successfully sued a dead-beat. The only relevant case law - and there's not much - is about the jurisdiction for bringing suit - and that is unresolved. So if the winning bidder this time around blows it off, I send Vinny - the Vile - Soprano to collect in person - capiche?
