Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1995 BMW 750il for $2895.00 obo, Oxford Green, 162xxx miles. I am the third owner of it and purchased this car in 2006 as I couldn't pass up the V12 engine and the exclusive items only on the 750il. Even though this car was produced in 1995, it was lightning years ahead of its time with features such as park distance control, xenon headlights and dynamic stability control. I owned another E38, a 740il, identical style, but it didn't have anywhere near all the extra features like this car does and I found that I had actually put more money in maintenance over the years on that car with a V8, than this V12. I have been very pleased this car has been relatively problem free, however, there are some issues that need to be addressed to make this car perfect again. I priced the car accordingly as I hd to factor in the cost for the items that need to be repaired. Original price with tax back in '95 was close to if not over $100,000.00. Let's start with what is wrong or needs fixing, and if you are okay with fixing some of these items, read below what this car has to offer: -Driver's Seat trim cracked (still works fine, cosmetic item) -Paint on hood and roof faded in two areas (I was stupid enough to use the wrong buffing pad in these two areas and before I realized what had happened, paint was removed. -Driver side window and left rear passenger window won't go up/down (both windows need a new window regulator) -Some stains on the carpet inside & on rear passenger footrests (probably can be scrubbed out with lots of elbow grease) -Bulls-eye chip in windshield (I had this sealed about 4 years ago after rock left a mark in the windshield, and it didn't take away the chip, however, it did seal it so it's not going to get worse) -Odometer display dim (Works, but it not as bright as the other control displays) -CD Changer does not read CD's (this has never worked since I got the car. Common problem in the E38's where the laser wears out over time) -Transmission Support bracket chipped (A rock hit it a while ago, and haven't replaced it yet but have the new OEM part that comes with the car. It just has to be switched out.) -ABS Light is on (The ring/sensor in the steering wheel needs to be replaced) -Right rear passenger door lock sometimes stuck (The actuator gets stuck sometimes and the door won't unlock, however, I have another actuator that comes with the car but have not installed it yet) -Radio (it powers on but does not always work. Only sound comes out of the left speakers when it does transmit through the speakers) -Floor mats (are OEM BMW ones with charcoal in them, but they are worn and show signs of wear) -Center arm rest (leather is worn) -Error Code (When the car is turned on , the message "Engine Failsafe Program" appears in the dash. This has been like this way for over 2 years and I have not had any issues driving it. However, I did have it taken in and the code read from a special reader for BMW cars (not OBD I/II) and the following error codes came up: 14- Throttle Valve (2nd Bank) Potentiometer ½ difference too high & 125- Idle Controller Changeover. Essentially, the throttle valve on the right bank (passenger side) is throwing this code and I'm unsure why. If the throttle valve was replaced, this would get rid of the code but it does not affect performance.) -Serpentine belt needs to be replaced -Front suspension, tie-rods and control arms need to be replaced (Kits on Ebay sell around $200 or less for aftermarket) -At warm up for about 30 seconds, if the temperature gauge is still in the blue (cold) zone, the transmission can rev a bit high. When the car is at normal temperature, this is not a problem. -There is some fluid come out of the power steering reservoir, no issues with it disappearing though. -I noticed that in heavy rains, there can be water on the front carpet mats with spots on the A pillars. I think the front drainplugs might be blocked and need to be cleared out, and when I wash it by hand, I don't put a lot of water on the sunroof and water does not get in. - Occasionally, a check low beam headlight message could appear in the dash. If this happens, it is usually the left headlight and by turning if off and back on, the xenon headlamp comes on. This is pretty rare though. Now, on to what this car is all about and the great features it has: 322hp, 5.4L V12 engine Torque: 361/3900 rpm 25.1 gallon tank Five speed Automatic Transmission with S4 and manual shift capability Digital Motor Electronics System (DME) Electronic Damping Control (EDC) 4 wheel disc brakes, vacuum assisted, ventilated front All Season Traction (AST) Servotronic Power Steering Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) Self-leveling suspension Power adjustable, heated side view mirrors Automatic tilt down of passenger side view mirror Double pane glass (sides only) Xenon low beam headlights High pressure headlight cleaning system Voice-activated Cellular telephone (works, but no service as it is analog) Leather seats and door trim Comfort Seats Heated front seats Heated rear seats 3 setting memory system for driver seat Electrically adjustable rear seats with lumbar support Rear electrical headrests Ski bag pass through slot between rear seats High glass walnut wood trim throughout inside of car Microfilter ventilation system Automatic ventilation system (programmable) Park Distance Control (PDC) Electric rear sunshade, plus mechanical side screen rollers Fully finished trunk Automatic dimming inside rear view mirror Driveaway theft protection (prevents engine start when car is locked) You get everything you see in the pictures, including a bag of spare parts, bulbs, fuses, etc. I have tried to describe the car perfectly, even listing the littlest of defects as I am picky myself when it comes to cars. I hope somebody will also enjoy this car like I did. Gas mileage isn't too bad, averaging 12-15 around town and 20-23 on the highway, which is excellent for such a large engine. The engine is essentially two 6 cylinder engines put together, so if one bank goes down, you can "limp" home on 6 cylinders as it won't leave you stranded. I always thought that was a great feature how the engine can shut down half of itself to keep the car running as it has two computers, but has never happened to me before. There are a total of 6 air filters in the car, 4 in the engine and 2 in the cabin which were just replaced. Last month, I also replaced the rear brake calipers, rear brake pads, rear disc brakes and all of the brake lines to each of the wheels. New tires were put on at 153,xxx miles. I have complete service records for this car from 1999-present that comes in a binder. In all over $26,000.00 has been put into this car (excluding the first owner as I don't have records) and has been treated very well. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have and if you are in the area, you are more than welcomed to take the car for a test drive and try it out. I can also work with you on getting the car to a shipping terminal to have it shipped to you. Finally, if I'm not shipping the car your way (gas tank has to be below 1/4 tank), I will provide you with full tank of premium gas, the only gasoline I have ever put in the car.
