In occupying that spot, I have set my reserve at or very near the top end value for 405 Mi16s sold in North America (based on a review of previous 405Mi16 sales on eBay). Even holding to my reserve, I firmly believe that the new owner will succeed in doing what all classic car experts recommend buyers of classic cars do: buy the most sorted and complete car you can afford, because doing any less in the end ends up being a significantly more expensive proposition.Extensive Documentation and Additional Photos are AvailableThere is no mystery with this car. I hold documentation for everything. In order to view an extensive set of photgraphs (taken in early May 2013, view a detailed Job Journal detailing every single job performed on this car since I assumed ownership, a spreadsheet showing every dollar spent on the car and much more besides, PLEASE CLICK ON THE DROPBOX LINK BELOW: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f8sglroj8ekzzw0/zku729YQWw Finally, any specific questions may be directed to: kenramonet@gmail.com On Jun-26-13 at 18:11:50 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to add a few extra comments that will further enhance what's on offer with this car:The car will come with some extra parts that I have acquired during the renovation process. I've added an Excel file ("405 Extra Parts Inventory") can be found by going to my Dropbox public files for the 405: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/f8sglroj8ekzzw0/zku729YQWw . The parts list includes and spare OEM BOSCH MOTRONIC Engine Managment Computer and a new sliding moonroof sun shade.A copy of the Haynes Repair Manual for the 405 (Petrol) in Two Volumes will be included.I neglected to mention that a model-specific Front Shock Tower Brace has been fitted to the car. I painted it satin black because I hated the white color it came in, so it may be difficult to see in the engine bay pics. I have supplied. The brace contributes significantly to increasing the car's torsional rigidity which in turn improves handling and refines the ride as well.If I were to be this car's owner for another 12 months -- here's a full disclosure Job List that I would do in that first year of ownership. Of the 5 jobs detailed below, three are "elective", "obsessive", "not really necessary at all" or "cosmetic" (#107, #109 and #110). Two (#106 and #108), are mechanical issues which I anticipate require some attention in the next 12 months. However, neither impact the car's mechanical good health at this time. Here's the list: Job #106 -- The front shock top mounts will need to be rebuilt sometime in the next six months. Only one side is "chattering", but both sides are typically replaced at the same time. The shocks themselves are fine, but many people decide to replace the shocks when the top mounts are rebuilt. Job #107 -- The roof just behind the moonroof shows the effects of UV sun damage and needs to be addressed. It is a cosmetic issue but it will be the last exterior cosmetic item on the list and when addressed there will be no more cosmetic jobs to do on this car. Job #108 -- The power steering boot has a small tear in it. Because it rains so infrequently here in California and anyway I never drove this car when it did rain, I was able to put off this repair because road dirt and grime didn't have the opportunity to corrupt the inner workings. My mechanic kept and eye on it over the years and periodically added some gear grease as needed. I would expect the new owner would be able to continue this procrastination for the short-term, but the new owner may elect to address the issue straight away. Job #109 -- The boot's pair of counter balance springs are too weak to hold up the boot. Anyone who owns a 405 saloon at this advanced age will share this problem with me and like me will likely support the trunk using a wooden support prop. I was prepared to do this indefinitely until I stumbled across a replacement set, if ever. Job #110 -- The glovebox door latch has failed and no longer holds the glovebox door shut (an almost universal 405 failure). Good luck trying to find a replacement latch (and when you do, it too will likely fail inside a year, as the latch isn't robust enough to support the weight of the door (Phase II cars addressed this issue with a significantly lighter door design). Fixing this was never a priority for me because I fitted Velcro strips that strongly keep the door shut (and also eliminates a notorious rattle source). Keep in mind that the glovebox is quite useless anyway, as the space is weirdly irregular and quite tiny. Long ago I decided to keep nothing inside and never need to open it. Job #111 -- The moon roof sliding sun-shade inside the car has not worn well (I have a replacement for it). But this is a fiddly and easy to mess up and a very difficult job to execute well. << THIS IS THE ENTIRE EXTENT OF JOBS THE NEW OWNER NEED BE AWARE OF FOR THE NEAR-TERM FUTURE >>
