Vehicle Detail

1970 Triumph Bonneville If you are looking at this ad, you know that this is the last and best year of the classic Bonneville. In 1971 Triumph went to the camel back frame that forever altered the look, handling and feel of these fantastic motorcycles. This one has matching numbers, having received a nut and bolt restoration about 6-7 years ago. At that time it was re-painted (a truly first class job), it had new rims that were laced with Buchanan stainless steel spokes. The frame, hubs, fork legs, and engine mounting brackets were powder coated. And of course the engine was thoroughly re-built. Compression is very good, no smoke, no rattles. In the last few weeks it has been thoroughly re-freshed: it has brand new tires, tubes, battery, battery strap, and speedometer. The cylinder head and rocker boxes were pulled, the rocker boxes were sent to Baxter Cycle where they were bead blasted, then re-assembled with new seals. While the head was off, the valves were checked with alcohol for leakage at the valve seats and all four were bone dry. As the pictures show, this is a very well cared for machine. It has one small dent in the right muffler that can only be seen when you are looking up at the bottom of the pipe. The horn is not correct for the year, and the front tire is a vintage look Dunlop F24 rather than the dodgy handling but original K70. I also have the reflectors that fit under the front of the tank. In all other ways this bike looks like a new one, and is a lot of fun to ride. It is not an over-restored trailer queen, but one that can be ridden and enjoyed. If you are the winning bidder, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required via paypal within 48 hours of auction completion, and it has to be fully paid for within five business days. If these terms are not met, the bike will be re-listed and you will be reported to Ebay. Make sure you have funds available, when bidding. This motorcycle will not, under any circumstances, be released before funds are cleared. This motorcycle has been accurately described to the best of my knowledge, no warranty is made or implied. It is sold “as-is, where is”.On Jun-18-13 at 22:37:28 PDT, seller added the following information:When I got the bike, the seat had a very small burn on it. I am including a new seat cover in the purchase price.
