Vehicle Detail

This is a 1975 1.8 liter Porsche 914. In November of 2009 my dad and I bought it from the original owner, who purchased the car new in Palo Alto, CA. He put about 290,000 miles on the car and took very good care of it; the extensive maintenance file, which goes all the way back to the original sales invoice, is about an inch and a half thick. Anytime this car developed a problem it was properly addressed, including a professional engine rebuild in the 80’s. Since buying it my dad and I estimate we have only put around 10,000 – 15,000 miles on it. We aren't sure exactly how many miles we have added because the speedometer/odometer broke shortly after we got it. Despite its mileage and age this 914 still runs and drives very well. I have taken it on road trips from Santa Barbara to San Francisco and back, including driving it down highway 1 without any problems. I even used it as a daily driver for a while in San Diego. Please check out all the high resolution photos in this ad, as well as the two videos below the pictures showing the car starting, running and driving. Some important information about this car: It still wears its original paintIt still has the properly functioning original fuel injection systemIt drives straight down the road with properly functioning suspension, steering and braking systemsIt has a functioning heater and defrosterAll lights work properlyIt has some body rust, but patch pieces that I cut out of a 914 parts car are included in the saleThis car exhibited no perceivable chassis flex on either side when jacked up into the air. Flexing is a symptom of the classic 914 engine bay rust. Because this car doesn’t flex I think it has little to no rust in these critical and often rusted areas. The transmission has a crunchy second gear syncro, but is still drive-able as seen in the videoI was hit in the rear by a motorcycle while driving this car in San Diego last year. The damage was professionally repaired by an auto body shop (invoice for this is included in the maintenance file). While this car looks good from 10-15 feet away, it needs and deserves a new paint job.If you are looking for a 914 project car, this one is a great place to start!
