Vehicle Detail
Up for sale are both of my 1972 Honda CT70 motorcycles. I bought both of my bikes in April of 2011 from a guy in Hazelwood, Missouri with a nice collection of these CT70s. His ad at that time (on eBay) said that these bikes were original miles and original condition and were supposedly on display in the Moto Museum there in Missouri for several years there. I do not know for sure, I am in Oregon and never been to Missouri. First off I will say that I am not really a motorcycle guy, but these 70-72 CT70's are the only styles I like that appeal to me and that I would want to personally own. So these are my first bikes. I cannot confirm anything beyond what I was told and given from the previous owner. I will include a copy of the 4-27-11 Bill of Sale I was sent from the previous owner stating mileage is 284.7 at the time he sent me the bikes. That is all I have in terms of documentation. Pictured is the Manufacturers' Statement of Origin document from 1971 that I have / was sent. So I got this blue one with 284.7 original miles on it. Right now the odometer reads 308. So during the summer of 2011, I put a total of about 23 miles on it just riding for fun slowly around my neighborhood streets. What a blast. Neighbors kept stopping me to chat about the bike...lot's of fun. From what I can see, it does not look re-painted it looks all original. It is not perfect, but it is real nice condition. When I got the bike in May of 2011, I had a truck back in 2011 and took them to a local mechanic for him to go over it and make sure it was running and tuned up right, etc..So it was looked over and minor mechanic work done when I got it and he got it running really well. Horn works (love the horn) and brakes and all seems to be working...speedometer, lights, brake lights. Factory original exhaust. I bought this and another like it (also on ebay now, it is gold) to share with my daughter and ride with her during summers here in Oregon. But, I just got a big surprise tax increase and bill that I must pay so I need to raise funds to settle some tax debts. They have been stored indoors in my house since I have had them, plus I covered them with a big pile of old blankets. I have not used this blue bike or either of my CT70 bikes since labor day weekend 2011, when they were put in to indoor storage. They were taken out of storage on 5/1/2013 from a bedroom of my house. Pictures shown were taken 5/1/13 right outside my front door / front walkway area. The bike has the original tool kit under the seat (pictured). Wheels still have the factory green dye on the wheel nuts/bolts. Original from front to back, is what I was told from the previous owner that sold me this bike. That is all I know. From what the previous owner who was much more of an expert on these than I am had represented to me, this is pretty much how it looked when it was sold back in 1972, has not been cosmetically restored at all. I have no reason to question, it looks nice and original down to the rare factory exhaust. The original 1972 Honda ignition key does come with the bike (not an aftermarket key). Buyer will need to get the bike a minor tune up upon receiving it to get it running, as I have not run this bike out since Labor Day of 2011. It ran great the last time I had it out on my neighborhood streets.I no longer have a truck to haul these in to town to a mechanic for a tune up. The factory Honda manufacturers tag/VIN # tag says this bike was made in Japan by Honda in 4/71 (in case you can't make this out from the manufacturers tag sticker picture showing). The motorcycle did not come to me with a title per se........what it came with is an authentic 'Manufacturers' Statement of Origin to a Motor Vehicle' document dated August 06 of 1971 to Morristown Speed & Sports, Inc in Morristown, TN Invoice # 33492 It prints/shows the serial # CT70-263957 and shows this bike as a 1972 bike and also some things like a shipping weight of 137 lbs, amongst other things. This 1971 paper document is from American Honda Motor Co,,Inc and signed by an authorized secretary at the Gardena, California location. It has an imprinted stamp on the page hard to see by picture. I never titled the bike in Oregon since I've owned it. Instead I just kept the 'Manufacturers' Statement of Origin to a Motor Vehicle' document that I was sent in May of 2011 with the bike and that will go on to the next owner. Back in April of 2011 I bought this bike from the guy in Missouri with a nice collection of these bikes. I asked him to put on a "1972 year vintage plate" on this bike if he could.......as he had mentioned to me he had in his collection some vintage plates. Turns out he had one 72 plate and one 71 plate. He put a 72 NC plate on my other gold 1972 bike and he put the 71 TN plate on this bike because it said TN on it and it appears this bike was originally sold and serviced new out of TN before eventually going to Missouri and then to me in Oregon. So he did mount this 71 plate on the bike and sent it along on the bike to me. That is why the 1971 TN plate is on the bike, in case you are wondering. Technically, this bike was built in April of 1971 but sold new in 1972 out of Morristown, TN. There is a Morristown, Speed & Sport, Inc. Morristown, Tenn small sticker on the rear fender between theback of the seat and the tail light. Looks like it has been there since the 70's.
