Vehicle Detail
Up for sale are both of my 1972 Honda CT70 motorcycles. I bought both of my bikes in April of 2011 from a guy in Hazelwood, Missouri with a nice collection of these CT70s. His ad at that time (on ebay) said that these bikes were original miles and original condition and were supposedly on display in the Moto Museum there in Missouri for several years there. I do not know for sure, I am in Oregon and never been to Missouri. First off I will say that I am not really a motorcycle guy, but these 70-72 CT70's are the only styles I like that appeal to me and that I would want to personally own. So these are my first bikes.I cannot confirm anything beyond what I was told and given from the previous owner. I will include a copy of the 4-27-11 Bill of Sale I was sent with these bikes in May of 2011 from the previous owner stating mileage is 124.5 at the time he sent me the bikes. That is all I have in terms of documentation. I got this Gold from the previous owner whose eBay ad claimed it had 124.5 original miles on it. So that is what I know and what I can share. Right now the odometer reads 136.5. So during the summer of 2011, I put a total of about 12 miles on it just riding for fun slowly around my neighborhood streets. What a blast. Neighbors kept stopping me to chat about the bike...lot's of fun. From what I can see, it does not look re-painted it looks all original. It is not perfect, but it is real nice condition. When I got the bike in May of 2011, I had a truck and took the bikes to a local mechanic for him to go over them and make sure both were running and tuned up right, etc..So it had minor tune up / oil change work on when I got it and he got it running really well. Horn works (love the horn) and brakes and all seems to be working...speedometer, lights, brake lights. Factory original exhaust. I bought this and another like it to share with my daughter and ride with her during summers here in Oregon. But, I just got a big surprise tax increase and bill that I must pay so I need to raise funds to settle some tax debts. The bikes have been stored indoors inside my house under a big pile of old blankets since I have had then. I have not used this bike or either bike since labor day weekend 2011, when they were put in to storage. They were taken out of storage on 5/1/2013 from my inside house.Pictures shown were taken 5/1/13 right outside my front door / front walkway area. This gold bike is mostly but not all original. It was brought to my attention on 5/6/13 by an ebay viewer that the seat on this gold bike, although nice, appears not to be the original one. It was also brought to my attention by this same viewer that .this gold bike's carburetor is likely not the original KO one, but rather is a K1 or later replacement carburetor. I don't know for sure, I am passing on information as it comes to me from those who know more than I on these models. There appears to be some pretty knowledgeable folks out there on these, which is a big help. I want to represent this as accurately and honestly as I can do, not being a motor cycle guy or an expert on them. So it looks like most of this gold bike is original, but there are some parts that are replaced it appears ( i.e. seat and K1 or later carb). This bike, I am told, is the KO model. Wheels still have the factory green dye on the wheel nuts/bolts. Original 1972 Honda ignition key (not a reproduction key) does come with this bike. Buyer will need to get the bike a minor tune up upon receiving it to get it running, as I have not run this bike out since Labor Day of 2011. It ran great the last time I had it out on my neighborhood streets.I no longer have a truck to haul these in to town to a mechanic for a tune up. The factory Honda manufacturers tag/VIN # tag says this bike was made in Japan by Honda in 8/71 (in case you can't make this out from the final picture showing). The motorcycle's title is a State of Minnesota Certificate of Title.issued 05/08/00. It is pictured towards the end of the photos. I never titled the bike in Oregon since I've owned it. Instead I just kept the Minnesota Title that I was sent in May of 2011 with the bike and that will go on to the next owner. More background: back in April of 2011 I bought this bike from the guy in Missouri with a nice collection of these bikes. I asked him to put on a "1972 year vintage plate" on this bike.......as he had mentioned to me he had in his collection some 72 plates. So he did mount this 72 plate on the bike and sent it along on the bike to me. That is why the N C 1972 plates are on the bike, in case you are wondering. The black sticker (pictured) on the side of the bike says it was sold and serviced at some point in time (probably early 70's) at / by Larson Cycle, Caimbridge, MINN Cosmetically, these bikes are not perfect but they are very nice condition. There are some faint signs of aging / light specs of rust here and there which are part of being 40 years old. But I would say minor, not even close to being an issue. Areas would be handle bars and wheels. But you can see from the photos the bikes are nice condition cosmetically. I just want to clarify they are not perfect, if you are looking for "perfect" in every way then these more original ones may not be your choice. A ground up fully restored one would. Any questions please send me a note and let me know
