This vehicle has had an OBD2 ABA engine swap done. The donor engine came from a 1998 Golf with 108000 miles. The car has been driven about 5000 miles since, so its safe to say the engine has 113000 miles on it. The engine runs very smoothly and the car consistently has an average fuel economy of around 30mpg. The car still has the original gearbox. As can be seen in the pictures, the body is a little worn out and the car could definitely use a paint job. There is some surface rust but no significant body rot. I was planning on converting this GTI into a weekend autocross car but am now deciding to move on to other projects. Maintenance that has been completed in the last 5000 miles: All fluids replaced: Brake fluid, gearbox and engine oils, and coolant. New front brake pads New wheel cylinders (shoes were checked) New front wheel bearings Rear wheel bearings repacked New rear brake hardlines New timing belt and valve cover gasket New water pump Passenger window regulator New Battery 10/2012 Wheel centercaps are included.
