Vehicle Detail
For Sale is my project Jeep. I was injured in Dec 2012, had my left leg amputated below the knee and need to sell my baby to pay hospital bills etc. I bought the Wagoneer from the original owner in 2008, and the Wagoneer has been garaged since then.) This Jeep is virtually rust free and the panels are all straight. I had still not decided for sure what direction I was going to go with this Wagoneer but have been pushing forward with many new items which are listed below. I consider the condition to be very good for the age of the vehicle. The drivers seat has splits in the leather, (typical for this Model, I've seen a lot of similar seats.)( must have been the type of leather they used.) The front carpet is used but the back is in decent shape. This did not matter to me as all of that was coming out to be replaced by new carpet or rubber floor mats and likely racing seats w/ a harness for off road excursions.I replaced ALL of the rubber hoses and vacuum lines, including fuel, transmission and coolant. This Jeep is safe to put on the road without worry of an old part giving up on you in my opinion. As you can see I have replaced a lot of vital items, (New Halogen Headlights, Radiator and cap, Power Steering pump, Battery and Electronic Ignition Module & Coil. The air conditioner worked but did not blow cold air when I bought the Jeep but It spent the last 10+ years in the mountains of New Mexico where you really don't need AC. So it could just need a charge of freon.Worst case scenario is a new compressor and they, (York Compressors), sell all day on eBay for a couple hundred bucks. AC was just not a priority so I removed the belts and bought shorter belts to run the alternator. The first thing I did on this Wagoneer was take it down and put brand New Firestone tires on it. On the way home the transfer case stopped working and I coasted to a stop. This is when Phillips Transmission in Mustang,OK.73064, rebuilt the transmission and replaced and rebuilt the transfer case. We replaced the NP 229 case which is not so awesome with the Very Awesome and time proven NP 208 case. The drive line needed shortened so it was and new U joints put in at that time, by Drive Train Specialist inc. in Oklahoma City. The Jeep still needs a linkage to shift the transfer case, (the original was lost in the shuffle when we traded for the NP208 and sent the NP229 in as a "core".) When you look at the pictures you can see I have removed the trim from around the wood grain sides. It was installed with a black adhesive so it makes the Jeep look a little rough and the original owner painted over the wood grain with an ugly brown paint?!? I am at the point I was going to get the heat gun out and remove the wood grain and adhesive so I could start prepping for primer. The trim is in bundles and labeled for ease of re-installation. Also I removed the roof rack, (it is aluminum or chromed) and I capped the holes. If you want to put it back on you just need an inexpensive OEM grommet/nut kit which is available from many sources on eBay etc. I think I saw one for $12 or so when surfing. The tailgate/ rear window did not work when I acquired the Jeep so I have completely gone through and repaired and lubed the scissors mechanism in the tailgate and replaced ALL of the electric window rubber and whiskers in the tailgate. I also fabricated & replaced the wiring harness that goes into the tail gate to work the window, defroster and tag light. The defroster does not work but seems like a simple fix when reading the Chilton manual I;m pretty sure it just needs a relay replaced. The jeep comes with the original Owners Manual the Service Manual and I have both a Chilton and a Haynes manual for it. Another project I was working on when I was hospitalized was wiring in a 12Volt accessory, 3 plug outlet for cell phones etc. with a switch and relay. The job was mostly under the dash behind the glove compartment. I removed it and bought a new one to go back in place, (they are that hard black cardboard that was very popular before they started molding them out of plastic.) That job remains uncompleted I was at the point of putting the glove box back in. I have been running Mobil 1 synthetic oil in the Jeep since I bought it and have changed the oil 2-3 times. I also used the Z-Max additives for oil & fuel when I changed the oil. I had the transmission and transfer case both filled with Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil too. I have not changed the oil in either differential but I have detected no issues when driving. The 3-4 rubber vacuum lines that control the locking hubs from the drivers seat have not been replaced either but it worked when I tested it the day I bought the Wagoneer. I put it in 4 wheel drive to drive up on the trailer, then tore up some wet grass when I got it home. I have also purchased a remote, key-less entry kit and new front door keys and lock cylinders but have not installed them. Another project in process was opening up the interior door panels to lube and inspect the electric window mechanism. The only one I have completed is the passenger side front. The electric windows and door locks all work , they are just a bit slow and need serviced. The worst thing about this Classic Jeep is the Cheap $40.00 stereo I bought at WalMart and the 4original speakers! its kinda tinny sounding. The rear door arm rest are removed and laying in the back seat. The Jeep is as you see it in the pictures which were taken on May 3rd 2013 at my friends car lot. He is helping me sell it locally @ Apple Auto Sales in Bethany OK. 73008 where it can be seen. The lot is on the SE corner of the intersection of US Hwy66 / 39th Street and N. Rockwell Avenue. The Wagoneer starts and runs great. I reserve the right to end this auction early if the Wagoneer sells locally. This Wagoneer is a great buy, I have about $8,000.00 in it, so someone is going to benefit from all of my work and expenditures.Call or Text me with questions at (405) 250-0488, Steve or use the Q&A form here.
