Vehicle Detail

This car is a Fiberfab California Speedster Replica that I built 22 years ago. At that time, essentially all parts were new. Many parts have been replaced over the years, as needed. The car now has 46,000 miles on it, so it is well proven. The current engine is 1835 cc, dual Dellortos, installed at 34,560 miles. There are too many upgrades to list them all, but here’s a few. Oversized oil pump, uprated relief valve springs and a remotely mounted, full flow oil filter that adds about a quart to the oil volume. Big valve heads, ported, polished and cc’ed – 9:1 CR. Needle bearing rockers and chrome moly pushrods. After I broke 2 standard transaxles, I bought a new, beefed up unit (Pro-Street) with strengthened differential, side cover and shifter forks. It has the tall, 3.88 ring and pinion which gives 65 mph at 3000 rpm. It was installed at 36,600 miles. Brakes are disc front, drum rear. Front calipers, rear wheel cylinders, rear brake shoes, master cylinder, all steel and rubber lines are new. Also new rear wheel bearings and seals. Front axle beam and tie rod ends were replaced 4 years ago. The tonneau cover is new. The top is original, and in remarkably good condition; the rear window is still clear. As can be seen from the pictures, this top folds down below the cowling, allowing the tonneau cover to be installed with the top in place. The side curtains are rigid Plexiglas per the original kit car. The driver’s side one is cracked. This can be easily repaired, if one were really going to use them. Tires are new: Sumitomo HTR 200. Ultra high performance summer tires. 205/50 HR15 front, 225/50 HR15 rear. Jan 5, 2010 - 45,300 miles. I was rear-ended 16 years ago, causing some damage to the fiberglass. I had the car repaired at a shop that specialized in fiberglass body work and took the opportunity to have the whole car painted black Imron. The repair and paint job have held up very well, with no signs of any problems. The pictures will confirm this. The interior is original kit car, which is pretty basic. The driver’s seat and carpet shows wear consistent with age. I have included a picture which also shows a small hole in the seat. There is no heat or A/C. Although it looks really good, this car is not a show car; it is not intended to be a faithful recreation of a genuine Porsche. It is a rugged sports car that is a blast to drive. The handling, brakes and acceleration are awesome. It will run rings around an original. This car is registered in Louisiana as a 1970 VW, and there are no problems with inspection in La. It is the bidder’s responsibility to determine conformance with your state’s registration and inspection requirements. This car is sold as is, where is. There are no warranties, expressed or implied. Shipping is the successful bidder's responsibility. Any questions, please ask though ebay.
