Greetings, If you wanted an Ascot when they were new, here's your second chance. I doubt there is another one this good not already in a collection. It's not perfect - but it's oh so close. There are a few little nicks and scuffs (none on the bodywork) - too small to show in these low-rez images - and hard to see even with your nose in the paint. Notice the date code on the tires - it says that these tires were both made in the 19th week of the 2nd year of the decade - mid-June 1982. And they are Yokohamas - OEM tires on this bike. Their presence on the bike guarantees the authenticity of the mileage, Here's the story. I recently bought it from the second owner. The first had a debilitating accident at work shortly after buying it but never sold the bike. My colleague bought it a year ago with 684 miles, gave it a full service, and put a few thousand sunny miles on it. He said he had sent the much-maligned starter off to a guru somewhere who puts them right. It works just fine. This spring he bought a new bike and did not see the Ascot in his future and I bought it. I've always wanted one and was delighted to bring it home. When I buy a new-to-me bike, the first thing it's up on the lift for a long and close inspection. The more and more closely I looked, the more it became clear that this bike is waaaaaay too nice be be ridden very much or very hard. It belongs in a well-maintained and lightly-exercised collection and I will look for a scruffier example to modify and thrash up in the mountains. The only non-stock item is the battery currently in it - it's a lithium-ion number. As for the rest, the pictures speak more eloquently than can I. Please call or email with questions. The Buy It Now price reflects what I judge to be top market retail value for this bike. If you check the Completed Listings, you will see that a red FT500 with just under 2k mi. went for $4.6k. But I want to move this spectacular bike on to a new home to make room and funds for projects that interest me more. So the reserve is more than $1,000 less than the BIN - a lot less.
