Vehicle Detail

Just bought a new car and I'm therefore selling my SVT Focus. If you're not familiar, the SVT is the high-performance version of the 2002-2004 Focus; it was made in very limited numbers and is a lot of fun to drive (if you're really interested, there's an old Car and Driver article here about the SVT model). It's an inline 4 cylinder, front-wheel drive with a 6-speed manual transmission. It currently has over 190k miles and still runs strong. It's always been very reliable for me mechanically. It does need some work: -Currently has a check engine light due to failing sensor (either O2 or MAF, I forget which). When I talked to my mechanic about it, he said the sensor is still working, but the signal level is below the tolerance range, so the computer is throwing the check engine light on. -There's a vibration that comes with hard braking at highway speeds, so I think the brake rotors probably need to be machined. -The backlight is out for the dash gauges. The needles still light up, so it's actually not a huge impediment to driving the car. I have a replacement gauge cluster (OEM, but used), but I've just never got the ambition to actually install it. -There's a small rust spot forming on the driver's side near the door sill (picture below). Overall, this car has treated me very well and is a lot of fun to drive. It's excellent in the corners and is very stable on the highway. I've driven this car back and forth to Philly 10 or 15 times in the past couple years. The interior and exterior show the age of the car; it's not pristine by any stretch, but it's in good condition. The car has a cold weather package from the factory which included heated seats, and engine block heater, etc. This car also came with the upgraded stereo that included an 8" sub in the hatch. I've also added a wired FM modulator so that you can hook up an iPod/iPhone/anything with a headphone jack (you can see the circular switch mounted in the center console next to the heated seat control) -- this isn't one of those crappy FM transmitters that you plug in to a cigarette lighter, it's actually wired in to the antenna of the stereo, so the sound quality is actually very good. Additionally, the modulater has power to charge an iPhone, you just need the correct cable to do it (available all over the internet).
