Miles are 80,290 and said to be actual. Southern car with no appreciable rust (2 very minor spots, one on right ¼ just above wheel opening molding and lower part of right front fender behind the wheel opening.) Original “U” code big block with M21 Muncie, 3:31 posi, F 41 suspension, cowl induction, power steering, power disc brakes and gauge package. ALL THE NUMBERS Cowl tag: 5B (May 2nd week) 704A51 (black bucket seat interior) 68 68 (Midnight Bronze top and bottom) Engine: 3999290 E-22-72 CE 275803 Heads: 6272292 E-22-72 & F-8-72 Trans: 3925661 P2D06B (trans is correct but has an older tailshaft. It is driver side speedo and should be passenger. Rear: 3969278 D-11-2 CFC 118 2 The car was built second week of May and the CE engine and heads were cast the 3rd week of May and 1st week of June. This does not mean the factory installed engine was changed out this early as CE engines were stamped the year built and not for the year of the car. Check out www.chevellestuff.net for answers. OTHER INFO I purchased this car from the deceased owner’s elderly wife a short time ago because all it needs is paint and then found my painter is backed up 3 months or more. I’ve decided to sell since I already have 2 projects and don’t really want to wait 3 months to begin a paint job that’s going to take at least another 30 days. IN THE MEAN TIME I decided to remove the original cast iron intake and Quadrajet carb and install an Edlebrock RPM and Holley to wake it up a little. I was amazed how clean the engine is on the inside (see pics). I installed an HEI distributor with new cap, rotor, wires, and plugs and re-set the timing. I did clean and spray a little engine paint on top while I was at it. I noticed an anti freeze leak and traced it to the heater core so it is new also. I changed the oil and filter, drained and refilled the trans and rear end and checked and bled the brakes. All suspension and steering components are very good and need nothing. Rear suspension is also perfect. The car now runs like it should. It will definitely put you back in the seat through every gear. Of course it will shred the rear tires if you wish. It starts with just a tap of the key and idles that great Chevy big block idle. The clutch is good and strong and the trans shifts great with no noises or gear clash. The linkage is good and tight and doesn’t rattle. The car runs down the road straight and true and stops the same way. It is a joy to drive. No smoke, no leaks, no noises, and it does not run hot. Everything works except the clock. The wipers, lights, dash lights, gauges, signals, horn, radio (sometime just squeals), heater, blower, and even the seat belt warning light all work. All windows roll like new and both doors have no sag and close with that solid “thud” we all like to hear. WHAT IT NEEDS It needs paint and about 2 hours body work for little dents and surface rust (see pics). I have a new rear SS emblem and a new “induction” word for the hood. Both are included. Both front seats need recovered. The cowl induction will need a new activation switch. That’s all. WHAT IT DOESN’T NEED All the chrome and stainless is excellent including the bumpers. The door handles are very nice as well. The grille is good as are all the wheel opening moldings. All glass is original and perfect. Floor pans are perfect as is the trunk. The dash, carpet, headliner, back seat, door panels, and all weather strips are very nice. All sheet metal is original as is 90% of the paint. Wheels are original and tires are at least 75%. Exhaust system is very good. IF BUY IT NOW IS USED I will include the original intake, carb, exhaust manifolds, and smog pump. (see pics) This will be a very easy restoration and will make an upper 30’s to low 40’s SS. If there are no takers I will just wait and finish the car myself.
