Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1952 Matchless Super Clubman. This bike was purchased in fully assembled, running condition in 2007. It was then completely dis-assembled for restoration, which at that point became a stalled project. The frame, bracketry, and other items were all powdercoated black, and new fork sliders were obtained, and that's it. The bike, as you can see in pictures below is a roller now, but there is still quite a bit of work needed to get the bike in running or "restored" condition. I'll let the pictures speak for the bike's further condition, however as mentioned, this bike was in complete, running condition prior to dis-assembly. Meaning, engine ran well, no smoking, clutch and transmission worked good, and electrical/lighting all worked. Fenders and tank were stripped of paint, and never painted or primed. Tank is straight, no dents. Bike has been stored in dry California garages since dis-assembled. The title is clear, titled in my friends name, currently registered non-op, so no back fees. Stickers have never been applied to the new California plate assigned to the bike in 2007. A Matchless Super Clubman shop manual comes with the bike, as well as some other documents related to the bike. There are ALOT of pictures, so take your time and look everything over. These pictures are EVERYTHING, there is nothing extra not in pictures. I will absolutely NOT part the bike out, so please do not ask if I will sell any individual pieces. These first four pictures are of the bike as purchased in 2007. These are of the bike in its current assembled "roller" state. Engine/transmission are in and loosely bolted to frame. Forks are partially assembled, the fork sliders require a special tool to pull them all the way into the top tripe clamp. Head bearing races are cleaned, bearings cleaned and greased. Here are body parts and more. Now for exhaust, electrical, bolts and other bits. Here's paperwork and more that come with the bike. Make no mistake this is a serious project and not for the faint of heart. I suspect if you've made it this far in this auction then you know what you're looking at and what completing this bike will entail. Shipping this project will be tough, as there are so many pieces, and I frankly don't have the time to package all the bits together to ship them to you. Knowingly, if you win and need to ship the bike, then you MUST make arrangements to have someone package all the bits, and transport the rolling chassis to your location. I would be happy to transport the PIECES and rolling chassis to your packager, but please contact me first. Picking the bits and rolling chassis up in the beautiful Livermore valley of Northern California is of course welcome. On May-03-13 at 14:41:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a question whether the bike is a G9 or a G9B. Here's a photo of the engine numbers, not sure if this clears the issue up or not.
