1966 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spyder This extremely rare and desirable example of one of Alfa Romeo's prettiest convertibles features an all alloy, 2,584cc, in line 6 cylinder, twin overhead cam motor producing 145 HP. However this motor has replaced the troublesome Solex carburators with the far more efficient Webers. Consequently, it runs stronger, responds better and produces a little more power than with the original Solex's. In contrast to other Alfa's of that era, the 2600's were primarily designed for long distance touring and comfort. The cars were fast, elegant and beautiful. They would do 124 mph which was mighty fast in 1966 and with a 5 speed transmission could sustain high speeds for extended distances in comfort and security. The cars were also very stable at speed. These cars do not come up for sale often as they only produced a total of 2,257 examples of these gorgeous Spyders. More importantly, the motor in this car has just been rebuilt and has zero miles on it. A new clutch was also installed in the process. The car is red/tan and is ready to be transported to its new home. It runs and drives great and is in a good driver's condition.
