For sale is a one owner 1979 GMC High Sierra 2 wheel drive short bed stepside. This truck was purchased new in Grass Valley Ca, at Hockett Auto sales by a local gentlemen who is now 91. The truck was recently given to his grandson who I got it from. I have the original sales receipt, salesman’s business card, temporary registration that was taped to the window, owner’s manual, warranty card and original title! BODY: The body on this truck is overall nice with no rust on any panels. All panels appear to be original GM sheet metal bearing the original "Frost White" paint. The rocker panels are solid with no signs of rust as are the lower portions of the doors. There is no rust in lower fenders or under the battery, nor any in the kick panels or floor boards. The body has several dings as you will see in the pictures. I tried to take the best photo's I could of these areas. The hood has some paint flaking and the original primer is showing through in these areas. The hood is flat as can be and is not kinked as these often do. The front panel on the bed is bent a bit as it appears something slide forward and hit it. The wood in the bed is original and will need replaced at some point. ENGINE: The engine is a gm crate 350 with approximately 12,500 miles on it. The original owner had the motor installed at a local dealership in 1998. I have the receipt from the dealership with document miles at the time the engine was installed. The total cost according to the invoice was $2431.00. The engine runs great, fires right up and runs smooth. The truck has good power and does not leak any fluids. Underneath the hood is completely stock with all CA smog equipment in place. The truck was smogged approximately 1 month ago and passed with ease. DRIVETRAIN: The drive train is in great condition, with the original 12 bolt rear end (not sure on ratio). The transmission is a stock Turbo 350 that shifts smooth. The brakes are in excellent condition and the truck stops with ease. Recently installed Western Chassis lowering kit, the front was lowered using 3" lowering springs, the rear was lowered using a 5" flip kit which put the axle on top of the springs. New, proper shocks were also installed at the time the lowering kit was installed. The truck was aligned by Les Scwab after installation of the kit. I have the invoice for the lowering kit and the alignment. EXHAUST: The exhaust is brand new from the cat back where it splits to two flowmaster mufflers which exit behind the rear tires with nice chrome tips. I have the invoice for the exhaust work. TIRES AND WHEELS: The tires are 275 60/15 BFG Radial T/A's with excellent tread mounted on stock truck rally wheels with nice rings and caps. INTERIOR: The interior is original and red in color. The seat upholstery and carpet appear to be original with signs of wear but overall really nice. The gauge bezel is in super shape as is the steering wheel. The truck still has the original am/fm 8 track radio that works perfect, there are no holes in the doors, the headliner is nice, tilt wheel is tight and works perfect, all gauges work as does the dome light. MISCELLANIOUS: The truck has A/C that blows cool but not cold, all exterior lights work, has dual gas tanks which both work. OVERALL: This is a solid, good looking, great running truck that has not been hacked on.
