Vehicle Detail
This final year of Trans Am was commemorated by the production of the Collector Edition. 2,391 were produced (one was destroyed at the factory), with 2,000 being allocated to the United States (the remaining cars were sold in Canada). Of total production, 842 cars had T-Tops and a 6 speed manual transmission. These Collector Edition's came fully loaded, thus options were limited to 3, a 12 Disc CD, Traction Control and a Hurst Shifter. This 25,000 orginal mile Trans Am is optioned with the upgraded CD and the Traction Control One interesting note I discovered as I researched these cars is that its appears here was a shortage of LS1 engine blocks late in the 2001 model year production run and the first half of the 2002 production run. It is estimated that 25% - 30% of the 2002 production used the Corvette coded engine block (12561168) rather than the standard engine block destined for Camaro, Firebird and later GTO production (12559378). This Trans Am (Build # 1359) has the Corvette engine block code. The factory horsepower rating is 325, which many consider underrated by 20+ horsepower (especially in the 2001-2002 Ram Air TA's that had the LS6 intake installed as standard). This Trans Am is a 2-owner car and has always resided in the Southwest. Its first home was in Phoenix, Arizona and I acquired the car a couple of years ago. It is now located in a suburb of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This Trans Am has always been garaged kept and is usually under a cover (included). The original owner exculsively used Mobil 1 Synethtic and I have done the same. The car has been adult owned and driven, and has never been raced. Interior - Nearly perfect, you would be hard pressed to find any wear at all. The leather is in great condition and has been regularly treated. The door, trunk and t-top seals are in great condition and have been regulary treated as well (a must in the Southwest). The dash in unblemished. All power accessories and gauges are in working condition. The door panels, which so often are found cracked in these cars, are in good condition. Exterior - The original paint shines as new, all decals are in great shape (no fading or peeling), never wrecked or damaged. There are only two issues that keep the exterior from factory new condition. Both are very minor and are pictured. The first is a small dimple on the rear driver side fender where my son opened another car's door and contacted the fender. I am sure it is easily "popped" out, but as it is not really noticable, I never checked into it. The angle and lighting have to be just right to make it out at all. There is no paint damage or crease. The other is about an inch up from the bottom of the rear fender and behind the passenger side rear tire. I am not sure of the cause. Could easily be touched up. This is not located on metal but on the plastic panel. Mechanical - When I acquired the car, it had not been driven much over the prior 5 years. So I had the car checked out from top to bottom. New Continental Extreme performance tires were installed (stock size). The orginal rubber retained adequate tread, but the tires were a bit dry and I didn't want those kinds of concerns at Interstate speeds. A new battery was installed as the orginal tested low. Transmission was serviced, the cooling system flushed, fuel filter replaced, K&N air filter cleaned, locks lubed with graphite, rear springs lubed (needs done again at the next oil change), and of course oil was changed. There are no modifications except for the K&N air filter. Payment - Deposit of $500 or full payment is to be received via Certified Check within 7 days of the end of the auction. Full payment is to be received via Certified Check within 20 days of the end of the auction. Shipping arrangements and cost are the responsibility of the purchaser. Car will be released when the funds clear. Title will be signed and sent (if not picked up in person) via Certified Mail when the funds clear. I am not a Dealer nor am I selling this car for a friend etc. I have done my upmost to detail every minor blemish so there are no surprises, however inspections are welcome. I purchased the car with a clean car fax. It is in great condition and really gets attention. My son and I entered a local car show and it won Best in Class. Due to a reorganization at my employer, I am going to have to relocate and have decided to sell the car. The title is in hand. I will try to be flexible with my time for any inspections or for your transportation arrangements. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all. My name is Josh and I can be contacted at (505) 730-4709. The car does have a reasonable reserve (I know, as I compared listings on numerous sites prior to pricing this car, so please no calls with low ball offers) and a buy it now price as listed. I will not entertain any offers during this auction outside of Ebay.On Apr-26-13 at 09:23:46 PDT, seller added the following information: *I would ask that the winner of the auction contact me within 24 hours, through Ebay or the phone number provided.
