Vehicle Detail
Several years ago while traveling through West Virginia I stopped at an old auto repair garage and was given a lead with an address for a 1955 -57 Chevy Station Wagon. Upon arriving at an old farm, I discovered it was this 1951 Chevy Sedan Delivery not a 55-57 Station Wagon. The gentleman I bought the car from explained to me that he used this car during his hippie days in the 70's down in Virginia Beach. He told me he installed the small block Chevy engine and 3 speed transmission, and also the Mopar front drop axel. This car was stored in his barn for the last 25 years, we made a deal and drug it out with his tractor. The car rolls and steers and has no brakes, but it does go into gear. The motor is locked up and does not spin. The frame appears to be undamaged and is fairly solid. The car is now painted black, but looking at the firewall you can see that it was originally green. The body is complete and is fairly solid with both front and rear doors opening and closing correctly. As you can see by my photos there is rust on the lower edges of the front doors and the bottoms of the rear fenders but the rear door is really nice. The interior has all of the original plywood flooring and cardboard sidewalls which are still intact. He added sheet metal to the front floor to add some height and installed a set of bucket seats that I have since removed. This project will make a wonderful ratrod or old skool gasser. My photos show the original VIN TAG still attached to the drivers door pillar. I did not receive a title but I will provide a legal Bill Of Sale.
