Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is a nice California based 1971 Super Sport El Camino. Been in Ca. all its life. I looked for about 2-3 years to find a nice 350 small block SS with bucket seats, console and a 4 speed. It also has tilt steering wheel, power windows and air conditioning, round SS gauges with the tach on the left and speedo on the right. Cool Hurst shifter with the white ball shift knob. Ammeter, tach, speedo, odometer, gas gauge, interior light, cigarette lighter, even the clock works (the clock will drain the battery at some point if left running). Since I bought it about 5 or six years ago I have done the following things to it: New Wilwood front calipers, New cross drilled front disc brakes, New cross drilled rear disc brakes, New rear disc brake calipers, New Wilwood proportioning valve, New Inner fenders (one was plastic so I replaced the both, New ceramic coated headers, New Holley carb, New Edlebrock intake manifold with chrome like lifetime coating, New Wilwood billet master cylinder, New chrome brake booster, New aluminum distributor, New center consol, (existing one had a crack in the back side) New SS steering wheel, New Cragar 17” wheels, New tires with maybe 200 miles on them, New Hotchkis trailing arms, New Stereo system with Ipod MP3 input, New Kick panel speakers, Interior lined with soundproofing mat, Rust under the rear window panel repaired, Bed coated with a liner, New bed to bumber rubber gasket thingy, I’m sure I did more but can’t remember it as I sit here. When I bought it it has just received new bumpers, exhaust system and some other suspension goodies. Paint was a few years old. I’d call it driver quality plus. The body is pretty straight with no rust that I am aware of (I fixed that!). It has the F41 (I think) suspension with the rear sway bar. There are three things left to do: 1) the headliner has a separation in a seam about 12 inches long that needs to be repaired, 2) the bed needs to be touched up or repainted the exact color of the car. I do have all of the stainless steel molding that goes on the bed. I took it off when I did the bed liner painting. 3) I took the A/C out when I was doing the carb/manifold/headers and did not put it back in. Overall I think this is a very nice El Camino. Not show quality but a very good driver. I just bought a Sprinter Van as my motorcycle hauler so the El Camino is up for sale. If I can get a reasonable price I’ll let it go. Comes with the original A/C unit, master cylinder and booster, front disc brake calipers, rear drums and the bed molding. Also has about $15 - $20,000 in receipts +/- between the prior owner and me. Shows about 98,000 miles. I assume it is original but can’t know for sure. Has the original California black rear license plate. Currently licensed and insured in California. Nice 42-year-old classic. On Apr-12-13 at 11:22:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Knew I would forget something: Power Steering and Power disc brakes, new finned differential cover and the OEM cowl induction hood flapper thing needs to be hooked up. That's all for now! Buyer gets the file with all of the receipts. On Apr-13-13 at 14:31:15 PDT, seller added the following information: My bad; the Cragars are actually 18" rims - more expensive and better looking than the 17's IMHO. Also, the tires are new 18" Dunlops. I also put a new chrome power steering pump with a billet pully and a new chrome Holley fuel pump. I'll update this ad as I think of things! On Apr-13-13 at 14:34:15 PDT, seller added the following information: ... also I will be on the road Monday through Friday so it may take me a little longer to respond to questions. So ask your questions before Monday 8am if possible! The car starts easily and goes through all the gears just fine. Horn & headlights (hi and low) work just fine as well. New heater hoses and battery cables too.
