1962 FORD THUNDERBIRD TBIRD DOCUMENTED ROADSTER CONVERTIBLE BARN FIND NO RESERVE IMPORTANT INTRODUCTION NOTES: This 1962 Thunderbird Sport Roadster is the "real thing"...it is NOT a standard Thunderbird convertible with the popular Roadster Accessories added. The ORIGINAL FoMoCo Gate Release is provided with the car (as shown at right)...and confirms it as a Highly Optioned and FACTORY SPORT ROADSTER. The car is essentially a "Barn Find" that was tucked away in its own storage container for many years. An award-winning restorer began the tedious and expensive process of preparing for a concours-quality restoration by acquiring many NOS (New Old Stock) FoMoCo parts, Repro parts, and high-quality Original Parts. In all, there are OVER $15,000 in high quality parts just waiting to be installed in this rare 'Bird. The best cars of the 1950s are already out of the reach of all but the wealthiest collectors...with many exceeding $100,000 in value when fully restored. NOW, attention is turning more than ever to the 1960s as the last "great decade" for Classic Cars. The 1970s saw so much Government regulation, that manufacturers had their hands full just complying with Emission and Impact standards...and BOTH quality and drivability suffered enormously. The 1960s however, was a decade where American Luxury Car refinement was at its peak...and the better US cars like this Thunderbird were very well made. In fact, the 1961-1963 Lincolns were considered to be among the best manufactured cars IN THE WORLD. This 1962 Thunderbird was built in the SAME Wixom, Michigan plant and received the same attention to detail as the famed "suicide door" Lincolns. THIS ROADSTER COST MORE THAN A CADILLAC! The majority of so-called "Roadsters" that you see are simply clones. And, the majority of the 1,427 authentic Roadsters likely did not survive. This is one of the "rarest of the rare" Thunderbirds...arguably the most exciting Thunderbird ever produced.
