CALL TONY 215-499-2693 WITH QUESTIONS This is a very Cool 1963 Ford Falcon 2 Door Wagon! These Super Cool & Very Unique 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagons are rarely seen these days and that's likely because of the low Production Figures. Production figures for the Base 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon was just 7,332 and when you take into consideration that these little Falcon 2 Door Wagons were made 50 years ago, it's not all that difficult to understand why these cool little Wagons are rarely seen! I know that I have personally seen just a half dozen or so over the last 35+ years and that's after attending many Cruise Night gatherings and car shows. Finding one of these 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon's in stock form, 50 years after it was produced is a real treat. This 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon was sold new at a large Ford Dealership located in a suburb of Philadelphia Pennsylvania and the Wagon would spend most of its 50 years with it's 90+ year old Original Owner until his passing. The care of the Falcon Wagon was then taken over by a family member for a short time until it was sold to it's second owner who is a local Classic car enthusiast. The 2nd Owner who is also a mature gentleman made various mechanical improvements to the Falcon Wagon to make it a nice clean dependable driver. He also had the Falcon Wagon repainted in Ford's 1963 "Heritage Burgundy Metallic" and as you can see, the car looks nice! This 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon is an attractive little car with cool body lines from front to back and whether your a Falcon fan or not, there's no denying the cool factor of a Falcon 2 Door Wagon with it's cool & unusually shaped finned rear quarter panels and the Wrap-Around long side Glass found at the rear of each side of the car...just cool stuff from years gone by and we will never see cool styling like this again. Another thing that I think is super cool with these Falcon Wagons is that they can wear many different faces and still look awesome. What I mean by "different faces" is that the 2 Door Wagons look great is Stock form as well as making Great Hot Rods and the body style also works very well for making Cool Custom Cruisers! Another great looking 63 Falcon Wagon stock body design item came by way of the Raised Center section of the Hood with it's Chrome Hood insert which made the Hood appear as though it had a Hood Scoop and gave the Falcon Wagons front-end the an aggressive look usually found on Muscle cars! There are many interesting things about the design of the Falcon 2 Door Wagons from the long cool Wrap-Around Rear Side Glass to the operational Roll-Down Side Windows for the Rear Seat Passengers. The Folding Rear Seat which served double duty as an extension of the Rear Cargo area but it also served as seating for 3 and gave rear seat passengers their own roll-down side windows which was a super cool design for air-flow ventilation throughout the Wagon! This was a very cool look and quite functional for air ventilation although these Rear Seat Side Windows only roll down about 4 inches which I imagine was designed to insure that neither small children nor the family pet would climb out....either way, a very cool and interesting feature on these Falcon 2 Door Wagons. The Falcon Wagon is powered by the very reliable and economical Ford 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine that runs well and starts easily with the original factory in dash choke working just as it should. Ford boasted 30 miles per gallon for the Falcon in 1963 with the bullet-proof 6 cylinder engine although I never got 30 miles per gallon out of a 6 Cylinder Falcon although I consistently got 20-24 miles per gallon out of a 6 cylinder powered Falcon Sedan Delivery that I owned back in the early 80's. The thing that I remember most about that my 1962 Falcon Sedan Delivery was it's reliability. That little 1962 Falcon Sedan Delivery never let me down and never once left me stranded. These little Falcons with the Inline 6 Cylinder engines are just awesome little drivers and this 2 Door Wagon is no different.... fun and reliable and runs well! As I mentioned earlier, the original in Dash Choke works as it should and operates by simply pulling out the White handled Dash knob that is clearly marked "Choke". I love the little White colored knobs all across the Dash on these early Falcon's....just super cool and they are throwbacks to the early days when even the Dash Knobs had character! The Transmission is the ever reliable 2 Speed Automatic or "Fordomatic" as it was called by Ford. The Transmission shifts just as it should with no problems. The car has a current Pennsylvania Safety Inspection which is good through the end of August 2013. The Falcon Wagon has a Nice set of Matching Radial Tires with plenty of Tread on the Original Painted Steel Wheels and Original Falcon Hubcaps. The electrical components seem to be in pretty good order with Working Headlights & High Beams, Working Turn Signals that Cancel properly from both sides when you return the Steering Wheel from a Turn, working Taillights which work with both the Parking Lights & Headlights, Windshield Wipers work properly, Brake Lights are working, Horn works, Heater/Defroster & Blower Motor work fine, Parking Lights work, Speedometer works, Odometer works, Temperature Gauge works as do the Dash Mounted Fresh Air Vents....they should delivering fresh air into the car. The Original AM Radio & Gas Gauge are not currently working and the interior dome light is not working but I have not checked any of these things to see why they are not functioning. It could be something as easy as a bulb in the dome light, possibly a fuse for the radio if it's even hooked up and I'm guessing that the gas gauge is in need of either cleaning up the ground on the sender or it might need a sending unit... either way, it's typical old car stuff. The car was painted within the last year in correct 1963 Falcon "Heritage Burgundy" and it looks nice with a great shine with plenty of paint used to cover the body adequately which includes the Door Jambs, Underside of the Hood and the Tailgate Jambs along with the all 5 of the original matching steel wheels. Sure the second owner could have spent a bunch of money having the Falcon painted to show quality standards but the car was intended to be a clean attractive weekend cruiser and not a show car although I have seen cars show up at Local and even National shows over the last few years that were wearing various primered paint jobs with some of them actually wearing unusually colored primer. I guess the primer thing is just another of the many unusual trends in inexpensive ways to give Classic cars a fresh look with colored or tinted primers. The Heritage Burgundy Metallic Paint looks nice, clean and very shiny although its certainly not a $10,000 paint job. The Falcon Wagons newer Paint is quite attractive and the car receives many thumbs up and will surely be welcomed at any local Car Club gathering or Cruise Night event and will make an awesome weekend cruiser. The Paint has no serious scratches(New Paint) and there are no dents or serious dings showing although I could have missed something minor. The second owner told me that he didn't have any body work done before the car was painted although it has had some work done over the years but nothing out of the ordinary for a 50 year old Falcon 2 Door Wagon that spent its entire life in the same area on the East coast. The car was sold new just 15 minutes away from my home and spent most of its 50 years with the same family. Since I am not the original owner of the Falcon Wagon, I'm not sure exactly what's been done to the body over the last 50 years but I see no signs of any serious accident damage or anything terrible for that matter. The inner fenders/inner aprons under the Hood show absolutely no signs of any accident damage. When these early Falcons or early Mustangs take a hard shot in the front of the car then you typically see some sign of the prior accident damage such as kinked or twisted inner fender or the inner fenders don't line up properly with the Front Fenders. This Falcon Wagon has clean and straight aprons under the Hood and the fenders fit nicely. I have looked the Wagon over and have driven it around town and on the Highway so I would be happy to discuss my observations if your serious about the car. The 1963 Falcon Wagon has a nice clean overall look even with it's painted bumpers which would look nicer if they were sent out and rechromed but with a couple of little dents and such, they still look just fine for weekend cruising and painted bumpers seem to be quite popular these days. The Original stainless trim around the windows and around the car appears to be in pretty good shape overall although it is 50 years old so there are some dings here and there. The Chrome Insert in the Hood looks really nice with very clean Chrome. The original Roll Down Tailgate Window Handle and tailgate emblem & reverse light bezels have some pitting. These pieces are easy enough to find and are fairly cheap should you decide to replace them at some time or just enjoy the Wagon just as she sits. The Original Grill appears to be in pretty nice shape. The Windows all Roll Up and Down easily with no problems and the Doors open and close easily and Lock & Unlock with the Ford Keys.... even the Tailgate Locks & Unlocks properly which is something that you rarely see in working order on these Classic Wagons. The body on this Falcon Wagon shows no rust from the exterior and there is no bubbling in the paint. The paint has a nice clean look and was repainted within the last year. The second owner told me that he didn't have any work done to the body before it was painted although the front floor pans were patched from inside the car and seem to be solid but were not cut out and welded professionally. If you wanted to do the floors professionally then the replacement front floor pans are easy to get and are relatively inexpensive but the car doesn't need anything to be enjoyed now. The Stand-Up Spare Tire well in the very bottom of the passenger side quarter panel has had some work done. The little 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon is a fun little car that is ready for driving on the weekends or to your local Cruise Night gatherings just as she sits. The Falcon Wagon drives down the road nicely. The Wagon drives nicely for an early Falcon and if your familiar with these Falcons, the ride is typical of an early economy car. These cars don't drive like Vintage Cadillac's but more like vintage Mustang's, early 60's Fairlane models, early Chevy Nova's, early Plymouth Valiant's and even early Rambler Americans. The little Falcon Wagon drives up the road nicely and steers, handles and stops like an early economy/compact car. Keep in mind that this was a one owner car for nearly 5 decades and I attribute the nice condition of the interior and the very good overall running and driving condition of this Falcon Wagon to the car being driven by one mature gentleman for most of its life. The second owner was also a gentleman in his 50's and he treated the little Falcon like a fun collector car. The engine is the Ford 170 cubic inch Special Six as it was called and it runs quite well. The engine starts easily even when it's cold with the use of the factory In Dash Manual Choke and you can hear a light valve tap when it's cold but it quiets down and clears out quickly and runs like a Swiss Watch.... sounds great and runs exactly as it should. There is a little oil leak which seems to be typical of these early Falcon 6 cylinder but it doesn't appear to be a big deal and this engine is equipped with the road draft tube which was the pre-pcv. The Transmission is the Fordomatic 2 Speed Automatic and it shifts flawlessly with no issues and the rear is geared with the original 3.50 gears which work quite well with the 2 speed automatic transmission.... just a good combination that works well with the 170 cubic inch engine and brings the car to highway speeds without issue. This Falcon Wagon drives very well for the economy / compact car that these Falcon's are with good Steering and the Frontend feels good. The Brakes work great with a Nice high Brake Pedal. The Falcon 2 Door Wagon drives nicely around town and is also comfortable at 65 miles per hour. This is equipped with Manual Steering and Manual drum brakes at all four corners and the brakes stop the car on a dime. The interior has a nice clean overall appearance although the bottom section of the front bench seat is showing it's age and therefore has a cover over the bottom. The interior has the Rare and desirable vinyl "Steer Head" pattern Seat Covers which is something that is very rarely seen and as you can see in the pictures, it is a very cool pattern to say the least. The Rear Seat still shows very well and is in excellent condition and even the upper section of the Front Bench Seat still looks pretty good with minimal wear. The Dash looks nice as does the headliner. The Front Door panels are in good shape for being 50 years old although they have some wear and wrinkling towards the bottoms. The interior Kick Panels and the Back Seat Interior side Panels are in very nice condition. The Rear Cargo area shows the Tan colored paint on the Floor with a Black Rubber Mat over the Cargo Floor and then a 2 piece carpet to give the Cargo area a nice clean look as shown with the Rear Seat folded down. The Cargo area side panels appear to be in good condition including the Panel that Covers the Spare Tire which stands upright in the Passenger Side quarter panel. The Spare Tire Cover clips into place properly and looks nice and if you look through the many pictures below, you will see the Spare Tire Cover removed to show the Spare Tire with the Original Steel Wheel which was painted along with the rest of the car. The Instrument Cluster is shown in the pictures and although not a restored piece, it looks very clean overall. The Steering wheel also has a nice clean look. The Doors open and Close just fine from the inside and the wing windows open and close as well. The Front Door windows roll up & down easily with no issues although the previously mentioned Rear Seat Passenger side glass only rolls down about 4-5" as it was designed from the factory. The Tailgate window rolls down just fine and when your cruising with this Rear Glass down, it really creates some great fresh air circulation throughout the Wagon..... You don't need Air Conditioning when you have a Wagon with great ventilation! If your looking for a fun little 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon that has a very cool look and fresh Heritage Burgundy Metallic Paint along with the Rare Western Steer Head Interior then this might be the car for you. This Falcon runs well and drives well on the Highway and around town. This 2 Door Wagon is a great little car that can be used just as it is or you can use your imagination and make it a Hot Rod or a Custom. These cars are rarely offered for sale although just a few weeks back I saw one bring nearly $2000 and it was a cut up and rusty old race car that wasn't anything special outside of being an Original 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon. That car needed everything from a complete interior to nearly all of the sheet metal replaced and was also cut up. I love old Race cars but that car appeared to be too far gone for me and I'm always very optimistic when it comes to saving old Drag cars. The Falcon Wagon I have listed in this auction is going to sell at NO RESERVE so please make sure that you know what you want before bidding and feel free to call me with any questions before you bid. The only real changes that I've found on this car is the change in color as the car was originally a Turquoise/Ming Green and the second owner had the car repainted in a color that he liked which was also a Correct Original 1963 Falcon color ....Heritage Burgundy Metallic Paint and as you can see, this color works very well on the Falcon Wagon. If you have realistic expectations then you will be very happy with this car. This is a very nice looking 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon with the Rare Tan Steer Head Vinyl Interior. The car runs very good and drives just fine. The Bumpers were painted by the second owner when he had the car repainted. It was the look that he liked although you could certainly have a pair of freshly rechromed bumpers installed or even install a nice used pair. The Bumpers on the car have a few dents but they would be fine to have straightened and rechromed. The car is what you see in the pictures but I strongly encourage you to come and see the car in person. There is nothing like seeing a car in person before you buy it and if your unable to come out to see the car then your welcome to hire one of the many Classic car inspection services come and look the car over for you. This is a great way to get a little peace of mind without spending your hard earned money and finding out that the car is not what you wanted. I take my feedback very seriously so please feel free to call me and I will do my best to answer any questions that you have. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime and for any reason without notice so if your seriously interested then please call me and we can talk about a buy it now price. I have been an active ebayer for the last 13 years and have over 2200 transactions with impeccable 100% Positive Feedback and I'd like to keep it that way so please don't hesitate to call or email me with your questions. We all have different ideas and expectations when it comes to these Classic cars so please ask any questions and I will gladly answer them as quickly as possible and if you need more pictures then please feel free to ask and I will get you what you need if possible. I don't have a lift although I'm sure I could take some undercarriage photos for those of you who need them so just let me know and I will do the best that I can with these photos. Like all 50 year old cars, this Wagon is sold as is with no warranty of any kind and as I said earlier, please try to come out and see the Wagon for yourself that way you can be sure it's what you want. I want the new owner to be happy with his or her purchase. Please bid only if you have the funds available to pay for the car within the terms of my auction. If you can't follow through then please do not bid. I only say this because there seems to be many cars on ebay lately which have been relisted because of non-paying bidders and I don't want to deal with anyone that does not intend on following through or anyone who can not follow my terms of payment. Thanks for looking. The winning bidder should contact me within 24 hours of the auctions end and the Falcon 2 Door Wagon should be paid for in full within 7 days by either bank check, personal check, bank wire or cash on pick up but the car must be paid for within 7 days either way. The new owner is responsible for all shipping expenses although I would be happy to help with shipping arrangements as I know a couple of reputable insured professional auto transporters who can deliver the car to your front door at a reasonable price. These guys are also "car guys" so no need to worry as these guys would treat the Falcon as if it was one of their own! Please call or email me if you have any questions or concerns. GOTTA LOVE THE LITTLE THINGS THAT GIVE THESE CARS CHARACTER .On Apr-04-13 at 18:24:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to add some information so that you'll know a little more about this 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon. This information should help you with your bidding decision. This car was purchased new by a local gentleman and his wife who had the car up until the gentleman's passing and at that time, a family member took over as caretaker of the Falcon Wagon. The family sold the Wagon to another local gentleman who is a Classic car enthusiast. The second owner did some work to the Wagon to insure that it was a safe and reliable driver and also had the car repainted less than a year ago. The car received some new parts and some parts that appear to be recent or newer such as the Battery, Battery Cables, Distributor Cap, Spark Plug Wires, Heater Hoses, Front Shocks, Radiator Cap, Brakes, Fuel Filter, Rubber Fuel Lines, Starter Solenoid, etc etc. The second owner told me that the car appeared to have had one repaint before he bought the car and it was in the original Green/Turquoise color which Ford called Ming Green. The Falcons Ming Green was tired and since the second owner did not like the color,he had the car repainted in a correct 1963 Ford Falcon color called Heritage Burgundy Metallic or Code "X" on the 1963 Ford color charts. This Heritage Burgundy Metallic paint is a nice color and looks great with the Original Tan Steer Head interior. The 170 cubic inch engine starts easily when cold with the help of the Factory installed Dash mounted Choke which is located in the Dash with one of the White knobs just as the Headlights, Wipers, Vents and Heater Control and Blower Motor knobs. I do not believe that the engine has ever been rebuilt although it runs well. When the engine is started cold after sitting for a few days, the engine has a little valve tap and will blow a little smoke that goes away once the engine warms up and once at proper operating temperature, the engine runs like a sewing machine...quiet and smooth. This is typical of these Ford inline 6 cylinder engines. The 170 engines were rated at 101 horsepower which is more than adequate to power these little Ford Falcons around town or on the highway although your not going to set any land speed records. The Falcon was also offered with a smaller 144 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine that was rated at 85 horsepower and they are said to be reliable as well. The 170 6 cylinder engines were known for being quite reliable and easy to work on. The engine seems to run well with what I assume to be 129,600 miles. The old 170 engines will run forever as long as you change the oil regularly. The Transmission is the 2 Speed Automatic or FordoMatic as it was named and it shifts just fine with no issues. The Falcon drives well or I should say, it drives nicely for a little Falcon as these cars did not drive like full frame cars or Cadillac's by any means. These cool little Falcons were very basic transportation although you could have ordered them with many options.... either way, they drove the same. The car steers fine and the brakes stop the car nicely. The Paint on the Falcon Wagon has a great shine and when it was painted, the Door Jambs, Tailgate Jambs and underside of the Hood were all covered nicely in the Heritage Burgundy Metallic Paint. There are no dents or any scratches to speak of....maybe something very minor and a few minor stone chips from being driven but overall the Paint looks nice and clean and very shiny. The Paint looks nice for a Driver although it was not a high dollar paint job and the body/paint guys could have taken a little more time in prepping the body in a couple of places although as a whole, the little Falcon 2 Door Wagon looks nice and is a fun reliable weekend cruiser that gets pretty decent gas mileage. When I asked the second owner about the body, he told me that he had nothing done to the car before it was repainted although he knew that the spare tire well had been repaired which is in the bottom of the passenger side rear quarter Panel. The front floor pans have also been patched from the inside and although they were not done professionally, they seem solid. I would have preferred that they were done professionally as the replacement pans are inexpensive so the new owner can consider having that done if they choose or they can leave them alone and just enjoy driving the car. As far as the rest of the body goes, well this Falcon spent it's entire life in this area so I'm sure there are other places that repaired although there are no bubbles in the paint on the lower panels and I don't see anything that looks awful or offensive by any means. This is a Clean Attractive Driver. The Bumpers were painted and have some small dents which you can see in the pictures and they look just fine for a driver although you can have them replated should you want to have them done at some point. The Interior looks clean overall with the only real issue being the lower section of the door panels showing some wrinkling and the bottom of the front bench seat shows some wear. This Falcon Wagon has a good set of matching radial tires including the painted steel wheel that matches the paint on the car and the Falcon has a cool set of original Falcon Hubcaps. The Glass in the Wagon appears to be all original and there are no issues outside of some scratches. The Doors open and close just fine and the little flip-up Lock Covers on the Door are still working fine with the Keys locking and unlocking the doors as originally intended. The Tailgate still locks and unlocks with the original keys. The Gas Gauge, Radio, Dome Light & optional Back-Up Lights are not working although I have not checked into any of these things. This is all simple stuff or typical old car stuff for any 50 year old car. The Falcon is a fun weekend Cruiser and it drives just fine around town or on the Highway at 60-65 mph... no problem! The engine always starts quickly and easily once its warmed up and you can stop and start it all day long without issue. The engine seems to run nice and cool with no overheating issues and the Heater blows nice Hot air on the coldest of days once the engine comes to operating temperature. It's just a cool old 2 Door Falcon Wagon. It's by no means a restored show car but it is a fun reliable weekend driver that will turn a lot of heads and will always draw a crowd as everyone seems to have known somebody with a Falcon at some point...usually their old Aunt or a Grandparent or even Mom or Dad...... I ran into an interesting guy while I was pumping gas one day and I could tell as he walked towards the car that he wanted to talk about the Wagon.... anyway, this gentleman who appeared to be in his 70's asked me how I made my Falcon Wagon made into a 2 Door because he said that Ford never made Falcons in 2 Door Station Wagons! I explained that the car was a Factory Original 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon and he told me again that they were never made and he knew this because he bought a Falcon 2 Door Sedan new in 1963 from a Ford Dealer in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I tried to tell him that Ford made over 7,000 Falcon 2 Door Wagons but he just didn't believe me. My friend was with me and he tried to explain to this guy that the car was an original 2 Door Wagon but again this guy didn't want to hear it. It was funny because this nice older guy even went so far as to try to show me that this Falcon Wagon started life as a 4 Door Wagon because of the design of the rear seat roll-down window frames and that he was sure that Ford never made a 2 Door Wagon. It was at this point that I just smiled and agreed with him because there was no way that I was ever going to win this one. This was one stubborn guy to say the least...afterwards, my buddy and I got back into the car and drove away laughing! The funny thing is, this guy is right in that these Falcon 2 Door Wagons do look as though they are Customized 4 Door Wagons but the fact is, they were built by Ford as factory original Falcon 2 Door Wagons!!!! Please feel free to ask me any questions about the car before the auction ends. Well, any question except for one asking me how I made the Falcon into a 2 door Wagon. Thanks again for your questions, phone calls and your bids! On Apr-06-13 at 21:08:28 PDT, seller added the following information: This will be the very last revision to the auction as I seem to get the same questions over and over so this should tell you everything you need to know regarding the condition of the car as I know it or as per my opinion. This 1963 Falcon 2 Door Wagon is a fun Driver that always starts easily even on the coldest days with the factory manual in dash choke and once the engine warms up, it runs smoothly and quietly. The Falcon Wagon is fun to drive around town and steers straight and has excellent working brakes as well as a working emergency brake. The Wagon seems to be comfortable at 60-65 mph although I have taken it up to 80 mph. The Wagon runs well and drives smoothly at 60-65 mph although the ride at 80 mph wasn't as good and the higher speed seemed as though it was putting a strain on the engine. The car likes 60-65 with it's current wheel and tire combination although a taller tire might change the ride at higher speeds although I'm not sure why anyone would want to cruise this cool little Wagon at 80+ mph. There are many questions concerning the body and as I've said, the Falcon Wagon spent it's entire life in this area of Pennsylvania and like many Falcons, this Wagon has rust in the floors which were patched from the inside and not professionally cut out and welded in as I would have liked. This is the way that I bought the car. I'm sure that there are other spots on the Wagon which have been repaired or patched. The Paint looks nice for a weekend cruiser with a great shine and the door jambs, tailgate jambs and underside of the hood were all painted at the same time as were the original steel wheels. The paint looks nice as you can see in the many photos but it was not a high dollar show quality paint job. The Falcon Wagon looks great from 10 feet away but upon closer inspection, you can see some of the imperfections in the body and paint.... nothing horrible mind you but they could have taken more time in doing the prep work before the car was repainted in the Heritage Burgundy Metallic. The Paint looks good and the car as a whole has a clean look for a 50 year old car that has not been restored. The Falcon Wagon seems to be very reliable and the engine is super quiet once its warmed up. There are no dents showing on the car and I don't think there are any dings .... no major scratches or anything of that nature.... some stone chips from being driven but that's about the only thing I can think of. The interior appears to be original except for the carpeting and everything is as you see it in the pictures. This is not a restored show car but rather a cool little weekend cruiser that seems to get fairly decent gas mileage. There are not many of these cars left as there were just over 7,000 of these Base Model 63 Falcon 2 Door Wagons made some 50 years ago. I doubt there are more than a few hundred left, if that. Most of these Wagons were run into the ground and then scrapped back in the 70's. All in all, this is a fun little Falcon 2 Door Wagon that can be enjoyed but please understand that it's not a show car or a rustfree California car like so many others seem to claim these days. It seems like every other car shown on ebay these days is a California car or claim to be. This is a Pennsylvania car from day one and is Pennsylvania safety inspected until the end of August. Thanks again and please ask and all questions before the last few minutes of the auctions. I appreciate all of the bids and emails and the high bidder will be the cars 4th owner! Thanks and good luck!
