Vehicle Detail
1968 Land Rover Series IIA 2A This unique find is certain to please any Rover enthusiast. Currently, The rust-free blue monster has been rebuilt to drive and enjoy, But it would also make an amazing start to a full restoration project. I've spent a lot of effort making it into a trustworthy driving machine without losing any of its original character. Wanting to drive it for fun, And not worrying about scratching a fender while exploring the mountainsides of Colorado, I focused my efforts on the mechanics of the Rover. The existing Chevy V8 (from a 1961 Corvette) engine swap was a gem to find under the hood when I bought it, Although it needed some attention, It turned out be a great performer after an extensive tune-up. A complete rebuild was then in order for the rest of the drive-train using all Land Rover parts where I could. This included the clutch assembly, transmission, low range gear box, a factory rebuilt transfer case and more. Stopping the Rover was a real concern, So the braking system was completely redone as well. A new master cylinder, brake lines, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and turned wheel drums, Put to rest any worries I once had. After a full inspection of the suspension and steering linkage, New tie rod ends were installed, Along with a set of shocks. The gauges, the heater and the wipers all work fine. And please keep in mind, There has been a lot of smaller repairs to the Rover as well, Like new hoses, a starter, a new Edelbrock carburetor, points, coil, condenser, fan belt, seals, gaskets and much more. If it wasn't right, I replaced it. In fact, I've got a long list I can email if you would like to see everything that was done. I also have the two jump seats that came with it. The body is in really good condition with some minor dents and dings. Originally it was painted red, But the previous owner liked the color blue, So it was painted blue and it still is. The results of all my efforts have created a completely reliable, Original looking Land Rover, That I wouldn't hesitate to drive across America. So, Take a look at the pictures and ask questions if you have them, I'd be glad to answer them to the best of my ability. If you need more pictures of the Rover, Let me know and I'll send them along. Thanks for looking and have a good day!
