Vehicle Detail

Hi everyone, thanks for checking out my listing. This is my 1988 Suzuki GS450L with very low milage, around 6000 as of today. I'm selling the bike for less than I have invested in it, but at the end of the day I can use the money elsewhere and have two other motorcycles. I have a few other offers locally and that's why I'm starting the listing at $1000... if it doesn't sell in the next week I'm taking a local offer. Now on to the history of the bike... I believe it to be a three owner bike, myself included. I'm the second owner in Missouri and the first owner being in Illinois. Hasn't seen a tremendous amount of use over the years, especially for such an old bike, but it's still a blast to ride. Obviously there have been a number of custom modifications to the bike, most of which were done by the previous owner as a project while he wasn't riding a Harley. This is my knowledge of the previous owner's modifications, and it isn't complete. First he thoroughly checked out the bike, cleaned the carbs, added a K&N open air box, new battery, brakes, ect. The he pushed the tank bank, removed the stock seat and added a solo seat, added a rear luggage rack, and cut the rear fender some. He also wrapped the exhaust in that black heat guard stuff, added new pipes, which he took off a Harley. Added cruiser pegs and some aluminum accents around the bike, including a custom rear light and license plate bracket. Turn signals were also taken off the bike and I do not know if the wiring is still there. So here's my riding history since I bought it... I bought it back in January 2011 and rode it for about five months. I was in New York over the summer of 2011 and after I got back, I bought a new bike, leaving this one in my storage unit. In 2011 (and since owning the bike) I put on less than 1000 miles. I did drop the bike once, it was a slow speed (<5mph) drop as my front break got stuck and pulled me to the ground. (Since that issue has been fixed). In the process I shattered the speedometer glass, one of the mirrors, bent the handlebars and scratched the tailpipe. I took the bike to a shop the next week, replacing the mirrors, bars (from a vintage Triumph Bonneville), and added an OEM speedometer and tachometer unit. If you notice on the speedo, it shows milage in the 4000s, that's an error but the title shows the correct milage under 6000. This month (March 2012) I had the bike serviced (for $500) at a classic bike shop here locally, thoroughly going over any mechanical issues. To the best of my knowledge everything is in good working order with a few exceptions. The chain certainly needs to be replaced on the bike, it's pretty loose and pretty rusty. There is slight cosmetic damage on the bike, nothing major and still shows very well but with a bike from 1988, there are certain to be a few nicks here and there. The left tailpipe has a few scratches on it, as mentioned above. Otherwise all other wear is pretty standard from my knowledge. These 80s Suzukis are tanks, literally can take whatever you throw at them and the ability of this bike to remain in such fine a mechanical condition to this day is clearly a testament to the quality of these bikes. I'll answer any questions that I can, but keep in mind the bike is currently at my bike shop and as such I don't have daily access for specifics. Hopefully the pictures tell the full story as well. Just a couple of particulars regarding sale and payment... Winning bidder will pay a $250 deposit via paypal, and the rest in cash, money order, or cashier's check. If you need other arrangements, contact me before bidding. Also, if you don't have any feedback, contact me before bidding, or I'll erase your bids and block you from bidding. There is a whole bunch of spamming and scamming going on, on eBay these days, and I want no part of it. Also, don't bid if you don't have money or intend to pay. Also, if you win the auction, that is the price you will be expected to pay. Don't show up trying to haggle. The price is what your winning bid was. Plain and simple. Sorry, but some people just don't get it, and that's why I have to type all this. This bike is EXACTLY as described and shown. If you win it, and you are from out of town, or overseas, and need to have it shipped, you are responsible for setting it all up. Your shipper can come to my house, and I'll sign the paperwork, etc, but that's it. Also, I would like the entire transaction DONE within 10 days. If you'd like to bid on it, but know that you can't take delivery for a couple of weeks, just send a message and we can discuss it. This vehicle is being offered without any warranty expressed or implied. All information has been given to the best of my knowledge and any questions will be given to the best of my knowledge. Once sale is final a liability during shipping or after ownership has been transferred falls with the buyer, that means shipping and insuring the vehicle is the buyers responsibility. Finally, if anyone has made it through this essay of a description, good luck bidding, please contact me with any questions you have and I'll help as best I can. Thanks!
