Vehicle Detail

Gold Honda CB750K0 Please bid on this low mileage Colorado Honda CB750K0 first sold September 1970 in Pueblo Colorado. Even though the bike was manufactured May 1970, and sold in September the title was registered in 1971.A buddy of mine felt that I needed to upgrade my 1970 58,000-mile early die cast CB750K0 with a low mileage version. So, I was directed to this “barn” find, a motorcycle having been parked since 1986. He told me that it was a Gold Wing, totally un-desirable to me. Instead it was a candy gold die cast Honda750K0.It was parked because it was backfiring, the carburetors had been removed and were in a box. I bought it anyway and commenced to clean and fix it up to be mine. But I don’t need two K0s, and the 58,000 miles I have enjoyed on my first model Honda 750 brings back a ton of memories every time I blip its throttle. Even though the gold bike is no doubt the better bike and in great shape it lacks history and I am selling it. Not a cliché but I found this motorcycle in a barn among log furniture where it had been since 1986. It was complete and then some, with ape hangers and a decrepit sissy bar. The dust and grime was thick and it was obvious the bike hadn't been washed from at least 1986 since dirt from the nearby dirt road was still caked on it. Being in a barn that long there was damage from items falling on the bike. Topside dent on fuel tank, tears in the seat cover and a dent under the taillight. Colorado is an arid state so the instruments are faded, the plastic on the control levers is yellowed, and brake fluid in the master cylinder had evaporated. But there is no rust. And since I own a K0 I knew that it was an original complete Honda CB750K0 with all of the rare pieces intact. The frame is #1038592 and the engine is #1038726. The bike was put away wet and ignored; gasoline in the tank and petcock was varnish. Brake fluid in the brake master cylinder had evaporated and leached the seals. The backfire problem had crystallized aluminum in the #4 carburetor and the needle and seats in all four carbs were frozen. The top of the fuel tank had a big dent where something in the past had fallen on it. And those ape hangers had to go. I replaced the #4 carburetor throttle body with a used K0 throttle body from Yamiya. All four carburetors were rebuilt with new needle, seats, and gaskets. After the spark plugs were replaced with new NGKs, points confirmed as good, and the timing checked, the bike fired up and the carburetors were synced. No backfires! Since it ran I did everything necessary to correct the ape hanger problem. With new used bars, upper throttle cable, clutch cable, brake line, I shortened and spliced the wires that run through the handlebars. (if I was keeping the bike I would replace the faded switches with NOS) I had the fuel tank professionally painted, sealed, and repaired with stock candy gold paint.(buyer gets leftovers) Problems that I have not fixed: Tachometer face cracked, Oil pressure light lenses missing, Front brake and clutch control brackets are faded, mild scratches on frame, Air box is cracked (cheesy silicone seal repair), Oil tank cover cracked at frame tab, # 4 muffler dents below HM300 stamp and at tip, baffles are MIA, rear fender dent under tail light bracket.
