Vehicle Detail
I am selling my beloved spyder. It was lovingly restored in 99 with fresh paint, a weber carb, ansa exhaust, and a replacement top (black). It has been garage kept and well maintained. Just turned 70,250 miles last week. Since it's restoration it has been well maintained and fixed as needed. The pics with green trees in the background were taken in October, back when I first started thinking about selling, and it was raining that morning. The others were taken last week, when I decided to sell locally, and on eBay. I just replaced both the hard and soft brake lines on it last fall (2012), and battery a couple of years ago, convertible top shortly before that. All else is original, (with the exception of maintenance parts, hoses and such, which were all replaced) and maintained. It is a wonderful car, silver with red leather interior and boot cover. Power windows even work! So do intermittent wipers! And map light! Original Blaupunkt stereo with cassette (cannot bring myself to replace an original like that!), aluminum wheels and steering wheel, and all badges in tact. Tires have less then 2000 miles on them.:-) I apologize for the mediocre (fall) pictures, it rained all morning, and the sun is just coming out, thought I could take advantage of the sun peeking out, but these pics don't really do her justice. The only things wrong with it I know of, cosmetic and mechanical, and she was just mechanic checked: It has an oil leak (surprise! an Italian car with an oil leak!) - see below for more details - was checked and diagnosed by mechanic a week ago. Rear view mirror glass is foggy, but who uses it? Replace it if it bothers you.... Crack in dashboard :-( Seatbelt receptacles are "floppy" from wear When you turn the right blinker on, the hazard light on dash also blinks - I find this funny, one of those "quirks"! Hazards and blinkers do operate fine, and fix for this can be found by googling issue.... blinkers and hazards wired on same circuit or something electrical I don't understand :-) I think the suspension will need to be done soon - my winter plans were to swap to the poly bushings, but the best laid plans.... I just had car inspected by a mechanic who disagrees and said the car, undercarriage, and suspension were in good condition. I think new suspension would give it a great - rather then good ride. Personal choice, I guess. Oil leak. Same mechanic who says suspension is good diagnosed the leak as lower cam gaskets leaking. If I fix, I'll raise price and sell closer to convertible season. I prefer selling her as is, at this low price, and as soon as possible as I am going through a bit of a financial squeze right now. I had her listed briefly for $7500 in November. At this time, rather than put more money into her, I'd really like to sell her with said oil leak for you to fix or have fixed, and you can determine whether or not to upgrade suspension. None of the above affect the fun you will have driving this classic Italian roadster. Please contact me regarding any additional questions, for more pictures, or to test drive it. If you would like me to email you additional pictures, please be specific and let me know the areas you would specifically like pictures of. If you are looking for a classic Italian car - you may have found her! (I named her Fiona, feel free to change it, or un-name it, nust be a chick thing) Price has no wiggle room at this point, if it weren't for financial situation, I'd fix leak & hold onto her forever. Please, I understand it's an intriguing car to see, but I do not have time/energy to waste on tire kickers. Will be more than happy to show it to those with a sincere interest in purchasing it. I purchased it for myself to celebrate my completion of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, I re-started chemo in mid September, cut work down to two days a week. I hope to buy myself another "celebration car" down the road.... Clear PA title in hand. I may end this auction early as it is also advertised for sale locally. Sold as is, where is...that's as much legal jargon as I know :-) On Mar-17-13 at 11:45:23 PDT, seller added the following information:I will be adding additional pictures shortly due to many people asking for specific areas. I'm also going to try to address many different emailed questions I received as well, as I've received 21 emails over the past few days and cannot email each person back individually. I had to travel this weekend, and I have chemotherapy Monday and Thursday this week, so I really just don't have enough time to email each person individually, especially since it seems a lot of questions are the same/similar. The pictures I took are not that great, as I took them with the car still in the garage yesterday, because it was snowing out, and I needed to leave for Nyack, NY...hopefully they are clear enough for your requests. Please keep in mind I'm a 5'2" woman with no mechanical background, but I do know something about cars just due to ownership of some unusual ones. So, I'll try to address the most frequently asked questions, but I am not a professional, and I have no idea what some of the questions even meant. I do not believe the paint is original. It is in great shape - no bubbling or anything I can point out. I know nothing about the oil leak other then the mechanic said it was coming from the lower cams. He did not give me any idea of the cost to fix leak. The suspension - I guess it is a matter of personal preference, the mechanic did not think it needed any suspension work, I think it is a little "loose", I would like it a little tighter. To each his own. The chrome bumpers do not have pitting I can see, however, since I was asked to check them out, I did see that on the underside of the rubber bumperettes, there is a little rust. The car seats are in great shape - front and back. There are no cracks/creases in the leather of the seats. One email asked if they needed replacing...I don't know why they would, they're in great shape. Someone else mentioned the passenger seat looks "off", I don't know what that means, but the drivers seat is at the furthest forward position because of my short stature...maybe that is what looks "off". I was also asked if it was "safe to assume the car had 188,000 miles on it"...I'm not sure where or why that number came up, as I don't have anything like it anywhere in my ad that I can see - if that number is in the ad somewhere, it is an error, the mileage is 70,250 I was asked, in different emails, to take pics of engine bay, wheel wells, trunk hinges, bumperettes, crack in dash and have tried to get those. Hopefully that helps. If you are local, you are more then welcome to come check the car out in person. I am about 5 miles from the center of New Hope, PA. I hope that helps everyone wih their questions, and if not, please email me again, and I'll try to answer more specifics...if I can. Thanks for looking! On Mar-17-13 at 11:54:31 PDT, seller added the following information:Forgot to mention, I've also added pictures of the trunk and trunk hinges as requested. It looks very clean to me, and there is even a small fire extinguisher mounted in it by the previous owner. On Mar-17-13 at 12:07:59 PDT, seller added the following information:I was only allowed to add 3 additional pictures...if I have left out the area you requested, please email me again and I will send it to you directly. On Mar-19-13 at 05:33:28 PDT, seller added the following information:Note to the folks coming to see this car today....it's supposed to drizzle on and off today. You are still more than welcome to come see her between 4 - 7pm. You can start and inspect her in the garage, and if you desire, take her on a careful test drive :-) I tried to schedule all 5 test drive requests for Tuesday, but haven't heard back from person in Buckingham, and person who works in Bensalem.... if still interested in seeing her today please contact me. Thanks!
