Vehicle Detail
This is the car written about in the September 2011 article in Sports Car Market Magazine. Upon completion of the trip from Portland to Reno made by SCM publisher, Keith Martin & his wife Wendy, Donald Osborne, Thor Thorson, John Draneas, & Miles Collier to attend the 2011 National MG Registers Convention held in Reno, Keith listed the 3 cars chosen for the trip on EBAY. Having read the article, I knew that the favored car was the GT that I bought. I arranged with Keith to have the car shipped to Monterey, Ca. so that my family & I could enjoy the car during Monterey Car Week & the Pebble Beach Concours de Elegance. After the week was over, my son & his family drove it from Monterey to LA to extend their vacation for a week before shipping it home to New Jersey where it has lived in a climate controlled garage since. I left the decal on the doors for history's sake, but they should pull off without harm. SCM spent over $2100 to prepare the car for their trip. This is an exteremly well documented car with service records & registrations in Washington State dating back to the early 70's. You can see proof of that from the 2 binders that will accompany the car to the new owner, along with the magazine article chronicling their trip, where the article states that the GT was everyones car of choice. Being a car guy all of my life, & currently owning 6 MG's, I am pretty familiar with these cars & their known issues, (can you say rust?) I see no indications of rust on this car anywhere. The car runs & drives beautifully with no known issues whatsoever. It is not a trailer queen, but a very nice driver quality, well cared for, fun to drive, reliable automobile. Our only reason for selling is that my son & I share the passion for cars & we simply have too many cars. We analyzed what should go to make some room in the garage & this is the first of several that we will be listing in the next several weeks. Owning an RV dealership,I titled the car in my dealerships name so that I could legally drive it on a dealer tag, so if you are a New Jersey resident, I am obligated to collect New Jersey sales tax, otherwise, you would be liable for sales tax in your home state only. A possible benefit to you may be that should you decide to drive it home (I know of no reason why not), I am able to issue you a Temp tag. I live near either the Philadelphia or Atlantic City airports & could arrange to pick you up. It is the buyers responsibility for shipping, however I will assist in any reasonable way that I can. If you have less than 5 transactions, or recent negative feddback, please contact me prior to bidding. As you can see from my 100% feedback, I represent everything I sell correctly. Paypal deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours, & payment in full within 1 week. Now, for all of the disclaimers: If you have any questions, please contact me prior to bidding. I feel that I have set a very reasonable reserve, but please don't ask me what it is. Just bid to own & good luck. Of course, as this car is 40 years old, so there is no warranty. The car is also for sale locally, so I do hold the right to cancel the auction at any time should the car sell prior to listing expiration. The buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements, however, I will assist in any reasonable way that I can. On Mar-06-13 at 13:53:37 PST, seller added the following information: Although the mileage stated is 50,000, true mileage is unknown due to the age of the car. Please be aware & bid accordingly. What it is, is a very well documented car that you should be able to jump in & drive anywhere without hesitation. Just wanted to make this point clear.
