I purchased the Scout for my daughter a year ago from an Old Rich Man in Chatsworth Ca. He had this very well kept Scout as his vacation car in Arizona. She starts every time and runs great. Not really sure on the Mileage speedometer not working. Paint & interior still looks decent but there is paint chipping on the left finder and all the glass is in great shape! As for Rust I cant see any on the underbelly of the car or around the Scout. AC works great! Please feel free and come inspect the Scout or send a mechanic. I bought the Scout for 4,500.00 and have invested another 3,188.80 so I'm into it for 7,688.80 I have all receipts - Replaced the follow in the past year: Brakes, Brake & Front Light , Throttle Cable, Cable Snap, Starter, Starter Assembly, Replaced P/S Gear Box, 4 Wheel Alignment, Wipers, Removed And Cleaned EGR, Drag Link Assembly, Drag Link, Front And Rear Shocks, Shock Assembly, Steering Coupler, Power Steering Pump, steering stabilizer, Carburetor, All four tire's have less than 100 miles on them & Viper alarm system with two remotes. I just Changed the oil and filter. Lube all fittings on steering linkage, ball joints & drive shafts. I Checked and corrected all fluid levels to include brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, battery acid, automatic transmission fluid.
