Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my immaculate low mile 1971 Porsche 914, 1.7 in original Signal Orange (paint code L20E) with Black interior w/ Riviera wheels. This car is the recipient of a fresh bare metal chassis restoration and looks amazing. The car is a 2 owner from NC and runs and drives excellent. I have documented the entire restoration of the chassis and included a slide show with over 350 pics on photobucket. This car is all original except for Dual Weber Carbs and a performance exhaust. This is one of the best early 914's you will find. I have been restoring and collecting classic European and American Muscle Cars for over 25 years. I planned on keeping this car but an early 911 came my way and I need to sell the 914. My plan was to drive this summer and take to local car show's. Please view all the restoration pics by clicking the link below. Slide show on photobucket presents newest to oldest showing the car when I first purchased last. Also scroll down for pics of the car now. I have just put the finishing touches on the car as we speak I have spent over $2000 on new rubber and trim parts for the car from 914 rubber dot com The Body This car came from North Carolina and was in very good condition. In fact I have pics of it in the slide presentation. Some repairs had already been done to the car including the hell hole (Battery Box) All in all the car was very rust free with the exception of the rear bumper panel. I repaired this with new metal from a donor car. The rockers, floors and body panels are rust free. Once paint was removed all minor imperfections repaired and I skim coated the panels. the car was then primed with U-POL Urethane primer. After applying 3 coats of primer the car was block sanded to perfection. The paint is Sherwin Williams 2 stage Base Coat/Clear Coat. 4 coats of color and 4 coats of clear were laid down then color sanded to a brilliant shine. The floor pan and wheel housings were coated with 3M undercoat for insulation and protection from the elements. Rocker Panels were painted in Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Matte finish. I also refinished the bumpers in Eastwood Alumiblast paint to give the cast Aluminum look. I thought this might be cool instead of sending out for chrome. I like the look. The Interior The interior is super clean and tidy, mostly original with the exception of a Momo steering wheel, new door cards/panels and an after market radio. The seats are all original, original carpet, original dash. The dash has a cap as there are a few cracks in the original below.. All glass is good with the exception of a small rock chip in the windshield. Targa top is in good shape. New side seals installed for a tight fit. The targa top was also painted Matte Black. There is a small scuff on the top about the size of a nickel and not very noticeable. Original steering wheel and door panels included. The Trim Almost all rubber trim has been replaced with new from 914 rubber dot com. Front turn signal lenses and seals, Window seals, door seals, targa seals, trunk seals, weather stripping, sail panels, front valance pan and bumper tops (on order will be in next week $600) included. I saved as much original trim as possible but mostly new. The Mechanicals The engine and trans perform excellent. The engine is strong and does not smoke or burn oil. The original tail shift trans is excellent. Car fires right up and runs great. Suspension is tight and the car handles well. Brakes are good and she stops on a dime. Wheels are in excellent shape as well as tires. Everything on the car works except for Fuel gauge, radio, and heater. The heater tubes and blower fan were removed. Blower fan included. Things To Repair Or Replace Needs antenna Fuel gauge not working Heater not working needs tubes and fan installed Windshield rock chip (small) No jack No spare Needs windshield wiper switch knob (wipers work) No fog lights installed All in all this car is a show stopper. Looks, runs and drives fantastic. If you are serious about owning a 914 this car should fit the order. Add a few original parts and this car could be a show winner!
