1962 Mercury Comet Custom WagonOne Family Owned for Over 47 years This car was sold new at Foothill Motors in Pasadena CA on Jan 20th 1962. The base price was $2772 and the options were Merc-o-matic, Padded dash, Full wheel covers, passenger mirror, Electric tailgate window, Backup lights, Push button radio, tinted glass. The car was bought as a regular family car but always taken great care of and parked in the garage. Then in Feb 1975 the car was upgraded with a new engine. A 1966 289 with only 24,000 miles, shelby solid cam, c8zz ford intake and a holly 600 carb, a C4 PEE transmission and a 1957 9" rearend was installed. Car was updated to 5 lug front & rear as well as upgrading to 14" wheels and full wheelcovers. And the car always looked just like it did originally....stock This car was kept in the same family till I bought the car in 2010. Since than I have installed new tires, even a new spare, a complete new duel exhaust system with flowmaster mufflers (sounds great) new Alternator, new plugs, new wires, carb was rebuilt, valves adjusted, new fuel filter, new front brake drums, brake shoes. All with receipts. I have the original sales order & all paperwork & receipts showing owner and trade in, most every registration since new. I even have the original black CA licence plates along with Foothill motors license frames. Also included is a full car cover. The car shows 49,492 miles which I was told is original to the car. The body has no rust, other then a little surface you can see in the picture where I lifted up the factory rubber mat in the rear. The color is original as well as all the interior. As it was a family car and used it does have normal chips and wear around the car, chrome/stainless is bright and shiny, rear bumper does have a dent, all the windows and locks work, wipers work, windshield does have one rock chip, heater works, all lights and blinkers work, rear power tailgate window works from dash switch but not from key switch, the old tach works sometimes and the radio lights up but does not play music. The rear seat folds down flat for hauling lots a stuff and three seat belts were added to the rear to match the front (kinda odd front seats came with belts but none for the kids in the back) I also have the original gun sight spears for the tops of the front fenders. This is a great family cruiser that seems to make everyone smile as you drive by. The reserve price is more then fair for such a rare classic Mercury Wagon in this shape Before reserve is met i can add a buy it now for the right offer ?
