ATTENTION COLLECTORS AND HOT RODDERS !!1948 GMC Cabover.... Bought it to make a hot rod out of it but changed directions so now she's for sale. This collector piece can go any direction from restoration to hot rod or rat rod. She runs great doesnt smoke and mostly original and drove it around the property with a minor technicality of no brakes at the time but what a riot and just had to down shift and all the gears work and used the emergency brake to stop. The air tank for the air brakes has a hole in it. The left front wheel was tack welded on as I think the threads are stripped but could be reworked or needs a new spindle. No seats but the seat base is there.Mostly rewired to convert from 6volt to 12 volt. All is Original from glass.... dash board ....gauges and lights which all work... dash lights.... turn signal... heater.... wipers... tilt out windshield... door handles.... head lights.... running lights... front grille.... bumper.... radiator....308/318 6cyl motor.... 11 speed transmission 5 low 6 high...seat base... dual saddle bag gas tanks.... single speed rear end..The original seat and head liner are gone. It was bought with a clear title that reads as a 48 but it could be a 37 to 41 just not sure. She's been barn and garage kept last plated in 1964 originally from Oregon now residing in Utah and ready for a new home and more TLC. I was going to take the body off to rework it so the radiator and front grill are off along with the saddle bag tanks and rear 5th wheel plate. I have a few extra trim pieces for it as well.On Feb-20-13 at 14:22:48 PST, seller added the following information: ATTENTION COLLECTORS AND HOT RODDERS !!1948 GMC Cabover.... It was bought with a clear title that reads as a 48 that may be a type O but it could be a 38 to 41 just not sure. It is the 362 one off the line with a 121 inch wheel base and the original 5 ton semi which a potential buyer informed me of. The body is solid with surface rust and not rusted thru with a dent in the top. Note the transmission is a 5 speed manual not a 11 spd my type o. Theres a new 12v starter and alternator. floor panels are in good shape as well.
