Vehicle Detail
***** I'm posting this again, got a lot of watchers but not a lot of bids last time. This time there is a buy it now and no reserve past the opening bid. This car was my daily driver until the last few weeks, as I got another vehicle. I just don't have anywhere to keep the Eagle right now, so I am selling it for about half what I have got into it between purchasing and upgrades. It is not a perfect car, or a show car, but for me it has been a fun car. There are things to be fixed, it is a 30 plus year old car, but I have been driving it on a regular basis. For Colorado buyers, I took it to emissions in December and it passed, I haven't got new tags yet, so I still have the certificate. ***** 1982 AMC Eagle Wagon Limited - 120,800 miles White with brown trim, interior is some sort of orangeish-brown. Runs good, clear title, passed emissions. Automatic Transmission, Part-Time All Wheel Drive, switch from 2x4 to 4x4 from inside with vehicle stopped. 4.2 Liter (258 Cubic Inch) engine, same straight six cylinder engine used in Jeeps for many years, so parts aren't hard to come by. The Eagle can get about 20 mpg when cruising on the highway, less around town and when in 4x4 mode. There is plenty of information available online about these cars, check out amceaglenest.com if you are looking for more info on AMC Eagles in general. Being a Limited version this Eagle came with options such as power windows and locks, tilt steering, power adjust drivers seat, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, the interior looks like it might be leather. I purchased this Eagle about two years ago, and have put about 15,000 miles on it, it had about 105,000 on the odometer when I bought it. I think the miles are accurate, as the odometer seems to keep accurate track when I have checked it on road trips. I purchased this car on Ebay from a charity it was donated to, I think by the original owner. In the two years I have had this car I have, in addition to driving it around town on a regular basis, driven it to Oregon and to Texas. I purchased the car in Denver, Colorado and from what I know it was originally sold in Boulder, it is a high altitude edition being sold there (something to do with a wire that can be disconnected or connected to make it run better at high elevation) This car has a carburetor, and a distributor with electronic points in it. I haven't had to mess much with it, it has ran nicely. I think the car is in decent condition for its age, little dings and dents all around, drivers side has a bunch of small rust specks, look like gravel chips or something, there are also some in other areas, but I took a photo of the drivers door where there are a lot of them. It looks solid underneath, I haven't seen any structurally bad rust. It has a bumper hitch, but I have never towed with it. The newer: I replaced when I first got it the cap, rotor, plugs and wires as well as belts and brake master cylinder. The rear tires I replaced a while back, I think they have about 5,000 miles on them, the front two were on the car when I got it. I have also replaced the fuel pump. I put new shocks on the rear a short while after I bought it, ones with coil helper springs built in, and also leaf helper springs to help with carrying loads. This summer it got a new valve cover, a nice aftermarket aluminium variety. This was done due to the original (plastic) one being cracked and leaking very bad. It leaks a bit of transmission fluid still, haven't noticed much else leaking. It also had a new muffler and exhaust installed professionally, starting after the catalytic converter and out the back. Rear brake shoes were replaced, earlier I had to replace one of the brake drums. Both the front outside door handles have been replaced (aftermarket black metal ones bought online, sold as handles for a Jeep with half doors). The needs attention: There is something under the car that clunks most noticeably when shifting from reverse to drive. It has been doing it for a while, I am not sure exactly where it is coming from, thinking u-joints or rear-end possibly, sometimes I hear some noise from the back like possibly wheel bearings. Between tires, valve cover, exhaust and other misc. parts I probably have spent another $500 or more since I bought it, so I think you will get a good value buying this car even if it takes some money to fix that clunk etc. I just don't want to spend any money on it myself right now, and have bought a different vehicle that better serves my current needs so the Eagle has to go. Also the front windows do not currently roll down. Drivers side works sometimes when it wants to, passenger side is missing a part I swapped out to fix the drivers side last year when it stopped working. One of the outside rear door handles is still broken, never got around to ordering it, not a big deal I already replaced the front two. The rear hatch needs the lift shocks replaced to hold it open. I think the windshield wiper fluid container leaks. There is dents in the roof from carrying stuff on it. The headliner hangs down. The sun-visors are broken. I'm sure there are plenty of other little things on the interior and exterior that could use fixing. The brown trim around the rear drivers side wheel is missing. The emergency brake cable snapped and I patched it back together, but it does not work that well. Front cv joint boots are cracked, I packed them with grease once and they seem to work fine, I don't drive in 4x4 mode that often. The gas gauge usually only goes up to 1/4 tank when you fill it up. The air conditioning needs a recharge or maybe more. Also note... this is a 30 plus year old car. It is not a restored perfect condition vehicle or a show vehicle. It is sold with no guarantee or warranty. Bid only if you intend to buy. I have tried to be thorough with description of all the little things I have noticed to be wrong with the car, and included many photos. Ask any questions you need before you bid. If you want additional photos of a specific area let me know, and I'll do my best to get them to you. $500 deposit after winning bid by PayPal, remainder on pick-up. I am not interested in arranging shipping, if you want that it is up to you to arrange and all payment would be made in full before it is picked up. The car is located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
