Vehicle Detail

1965 CB450 “Black Bomber” with upgraded 1971 motor, 5 speed transmission and controls. I have a clear and transferrable New York State Registration for the bike. New York State does not have titles on pre 1973 bikes. Frame serial number 101XXXXXXX The bike runs Great !!!, very fast and smooth running. The bike starts at the touch of the starter button. Idles below 900 RPM, shifts smoothly, no smoke. Recent $2000.00 plus system overhaul on the bike was completed at a professional bike / hotrod race shop to straighten out all of the small issues that accumulate over the years. The recent work included, new spark plugs, two new Dyna Coil ignition coils, a new old stock ignition switch (a very rare part), new battery, new battery hold down strap, engine tune up, a complete de-bugging of wiring issues, cleaned and rebuilt carbs, cleaned air filters, gas tank cleaned free of all rust and varnish residue and coated with Kream tank sealer, new gas lines, new fuel petcock, replaced all frozen cylinder head bolts, new throttle cable, new clutch cable and new brake cable and numerous small issues ie; replaced stripped nuts and bolts, sealed transmission and all oil leaks, greased all fittings. The bike does not leak a drop!! With oil and gas in the bike it has not leaked a drop in 6 months. Other than the upgraded 1971 motor, transmission, controls and custom taillight all other parts are original 1965 CB450. Original 1965 frame, original mirrors, seat pan (seat recovered by professional interior shop) and original handlebars. The bike was painted at the time of upgrade, probably early 1970’s to metallic gold and the front and rear fenders were slightly shortened. I have a very nice NOS front fender and a nice used rear fender that are included with sale of the bike as well as Clymer maintenance manual. History: As told to me by previous owner and friend of one of the original owners. The bike was a show bike/street racer in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. What the bike really needs? A new rider, and in my opinion, new tires. The tires on the bike are of unknown age and best to replace them before riding for safety reasons. The bike also could use a new seat lock since it is missing the seat lock. And of course, paint, if you are inclined. I would rate the paint as poor condition, it shines but chips, scratches and also peeling and bubbled around fuel filler..the rims also have some surface rust..they were clearcoated years ago and the rust seems to come off. Reason for Sale: I have two large projects in the works and I have zero time to ride the bike…This bike needs to be ridden and enjoyed. This bike garners more attention than any other bike I’ve ever owned and that included an original vintage 1968 Bonneville and a 1930’s BSA 500cc special racer. My reserve is very reasonable for the work completed and condition of the bike. All bike aficionados who have seen this bike, love the bike. This is the perfect CB450 “Black Bomber” to blast around town, ride with a vintage club and take to the custom and vintage shows. You are welcome to inspect the bike in person.
