Vehicle Detail

Wow!!!! Wonderful but kinda ugly 1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler. This Jeep has been in the family for the last 15 yrs as a play toy for my now 72 year old father. He's a one of a kind individual who is absolutely crazy about Jeep Scramblers!!! He fell in love with this Jeep when he first saw it in the early to mid nineties. It was sitting out in front of a jewelry shop in North Carolina with a big sign in the back advertising the shop. It was painted Chartreuse Green and really stuck out. The Jeep was in pretty good shape for being near the ocean and the owner wouldn't sell it. He went back every year for about 4-5 years and asked them to sell it and then finally they agreed to sell it. They set a price and even though it wasn't in as good of condition, he bought it on the spot. He has been crazy about this Jeep ever since, but as he is getting older and needs to unload some of his toys, sadly it must go. We have owned three Scramblers and this is the last one to go. Too many knee surgeries have made it very difficult to get in and out of. Over the years, he has NOT taken it off roading at all. He has always had it as an in town on the road vehicle. He didn't have the need or desire to take it offroad and just thought it was COOL to drive. He used to pull a trailer and smoker around with it. The Jeep became more of a fun utilitarian truck for him. It comes equipped with a full hard top, full hard doors and a back seat as well. We also have a bikini top for it since we always take the doors and top off during the warmer months. We have done so much to it over the years. The engine was completely rebuilt about 7 years ago, the transmission has been replaced, the transfer case was rebuilt and the rear axle had been redone all around the same time. Within the last year it has had both upper and lower ball joints replaced, rebuilt the front shaft, replaced 6 u-joints, new clutch master and slave cylinders, new tie-rod with adjusting sleeve and new rotors and seals. It has also had a new auxiliary heater installed behind the seats and we have a new heater core that is not installed in the dash yet. There is more but I'm trying to place it all. We have many receipts and details about this Jeep and what all has been done to it. Its had all the tires balanced quite well and she runs down the highway very smoothly. So as I said at the beginning, its ugly but wonderful all at the same time. Which brings me to the next part....... the ugly part! The body is ugly as all get out but very STURDY now. The ocean was not pleasant to the ole' girl though. After the years the body started to deteriorate more and more so that he had to do something about. He didn't want to spend the money to replace the body or have it turned into a fiberglass body. So a friend of his who worked at truck body builder decided he could do it inexpensively. Not beautiful or smooth like a normal body but with some real steel put in it. The bed floor and rear corners have 10ga steel and most of the other areas have been beefed up with 16ga steel. Its had another hood put on it, new windshield frame installed, and had the inside of the body completely coated with bedliner protector. It also had channel pieces put along the sides for a little extra. I myself built the front bumper brush guard set up and installed the front trail/fog lights. It is very stout and able to put some serious damage on something or someone. So as said before, its ugly but sturdy and drives great!!!! The frame is still in decent shape but does show signs of the typical Jeep rusting in the frame. Its not gone but worn, so it would be good if it had some patching done before any off roading is done. Its perfectly fine for on the highway though. I've tried to give an honest description of the vehicle and include as much info as I could. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask and I will answer them as best I can. 614-769-8372 This will be offered for sale locally so we reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Thank you,Tilor
