Vehicle Detail
Matching numbers 427 Big Block, 4 Speed manual, low mileage, Convertible 1968 Stingray. This big block Stingray is the first year production C3 and is mechanically identical to the C2 that it replaced.Under the futuristic shark body of the third generation, the chassis was carried over from the second generation models, retaining the fully independent suspension (with minor revisions) and the four-wheel disc brake system. The engine line-up and horsepower ratings were also carried over from the previous year as were the 3 and 4-speed manual transmissions. Power output of the big block engines remained in the 400 hp zone. This model is the purest form of the C3 Stingray design due to the vacuum actuated pop-up windshield wiper, headlights, and the hard cover for the fold down roof. The Stingray up for sale here is a low mileage, matching numbers, 427 4 speed manual, convertible with a beautiful original color combination of metallic blue with metallic blue interior. The previous owner started restoring it in the '80 but stopped and the car was stored until I bought it 2 years ago hoping I'll get to finishing the restoration. The body has already been done and is in great shape, just needs paint. Most of the interior and trim are missing but original dash seats and steering are there. It comes with installed new soft top. It comes with boxes containing some original parts for the car. The brake system had just been renewed. The engine leeks oil from the valve covers and there is a little lifter noise - it has to be looked upon and sorted. But this Stingray starts right up, runs and drives in my back yard, and looks stunning. As you can see from photos - the frame is solid and clean. It is being sold as-is for restoration but you are welcome to come and test it in person.I am re listing it because the buyer didn't read the payment section. As you can see from my feedback, I am helpful and flexible, but please - Serious bidders only. Thanks and have fun bidding ! On Feb-09-13 at 13:52:02 PST, seller added the following information: 2/9/2013 Thanks for all your interest in my Stingray. I would like to inform the bidders that I found out that there is a little misspell in the VIN number shown here. It misses one digit. The correct VIN number that is stamped on the car is 194678s408155. This is what it stands for: 1 - Chevrolet Motor Division9 - Corvette model4 - V-8 engine67 - Convertible8 - last digit of model year - this is the missing digitS - St Louis Assembly Plant408155 - Serial Number of this specific car - also stamped on the engine and frame - The car is a matching numbers car. The same misspell also occurs in the Ohio title of the car and I here by oblige myself to fix it before shipping the car over to the winning bidder. Apart for the deposit, the winning bidder may wait for this correction to be done before paying for the car. It's a very small thing but I like everything about my transactions to be clear and smooth.Thanks,Ron.
