Vehicle Detail

Classic 1972 Mercedes 220D for sale. We have been using it infrequently to run errands around town, but we have not used it as a daily driver. Car is in running condition, but we would not recommend driving it home (i.e. we recommend shipping it) when purchased. 30+ photos available at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/90216598@N04/ 3 videos here: http://youtu.be/X__ax3xhpU4 http://youtu.be/I_jdFbNnmcU http://youtu.be/3fIP5y2fvaw Exterior is in pretty good shape with a few minor dings, and much of the car has the original chrome. A new windshield was installed this past summer. The weatherstripping around the other windows seems to be original and on some, water leaks in if the car is exposed to rain. Also, the back driver seat door will not unlock or open at this time. We bought the car in March and it had just had a new paint job, and the hubcaps appear to be original. Front Mercedes emblem is in place, and we have the emblem that belongs at the rear of the vehicle. The car comes with a spare tire. The horn, the headlights, brake lights, and turning indicators function. You do have to hold the turning indicator in place for turning right, but this is not a major inconvenience. The brakes work fine, and the parking brake functions as well. The horn, headlights, taillights and turning indicators all function and the car passed the State of Texas inspection in October. I will say the throttle linkage (?) is wired together as a temporary fix at the moment (see photo); it should probably be replaced by the new owner. Interior is in good shape for a 40 year old car. Minor wear on the seats but some tears underneath the driver side seat (see photo). Carpet is in good shape as well. The radio console is partially detached. We have an extra console but haven't found the clips to attach it yet. The radio does work but we believe just one speaker is working properly. The clock does not function but all other gauges (fuel, temperature, oil pressure, speedometer, etc.) work fine. Last summer we had someone install a used A/C system. It was blowing cold air over the summer, but recently, it has stopped blowing cold air for whatever reason. We are not sure the heat is in working order; it is hard to tell if the heat we feel is coming from under the hood and through the vents or the heat system. Sometime during its life, an extra fuel tank was installed in the trunk. It is connected to the main fuel tank. It's a neat feature, but the flow between them can be shut off. The car has a unique, distinctive appearance, smooth suspension and is a nice ride.
