Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1974 Auto-Stick VW Bug (Beetle). I purchased this car about 2 years ago. Have driven a little, but its not being used as much as it deserves. I have a VW Thing that has just gotten a lot more of my time :-) The engine appears to be untouched! By that I mean no tool marks indicating it has had any major issues. The original transmission lines are still on the car. The odometer shows approximately 46,000 miles (I do drive it so this may change slightly). The car was originally purchased in the mid-west and came to my area when the owner relocated. In the late 1990's, a local business owner purchased it to use a promotional car. He would display in parades, outside his store, and at home football games (OSU - orange is a team color). It was driven very little while he owned it. I purchased it from him. I cannot guarantee this is a complete list of previous owners, but to the best of my knowledge it is. It is possible the mileage is 146,000, but I highly doubt it based on my experience with VW's and the amount of wear. The car runs and drives down the road very well. There are a few problems: The driver's door lower hinge has corroded and broken. The door opens, but it scrapes the running board. I did not even notice it for the first year I owned it. It will require welding and minor paint to repair. The fresh air fan switch is broken. I have a replacement to give to you. The interior light shorts out. Not an issue if off, but if on, it sometimes switches on and drains battery if not driven every day. Easy fix. Radio does not work, but I think it's a minor wiring issue. Cheap after market stereo so never bothered. Front seats are in decent shape. Back seat needs to be redone. Currently just have some blankets over it. Corrosion in the normal places for a bug of this age. Auto-Stick This is what makes this car so very special. It has an automatic transmission! Very few classic bugs were made with an automatic. In town, I put in gear and never have to shift. Once out on highway, let off the gas and shift to 2nd. Has a low gear for more rapid acceleration needs and on hills. If you want a bug, but don't want a manual, this is the car for you. I will provide any additional photos you request. Test drives are encouraged (that's how I fell in love with this car). I will deliver within 100 miles, outside that you'll need to come get it or arrange shipment. I will drive to a terminal in OKC or Tulsa. Payment in full prior to delivery.
