Vehicle Detail
This is a no reserve listing. This is the second 1970 Electra 225 that I have listed for sale in the past month. The GREEN one is sold, this BLUE one is being offered for sale as a no-reserve listing. Like the other car I sold, this is one of the finest-quality 1970 Buick Electra 225 models for sale in the entire world. This car has 68,068 original miles and it is a true survior in all-original condition. The car carries what appears to me to be all-original paint, and everything is exactly as it was built, other than normal maintenance. This car was just aquired from the original owner, an 88-year-old woman in Meadville, PA. She and her husband bought the car new, and it was kept in their garage since new. This car has always been kept serviced and in fully operational condition since the day it was new. The car wasn't driven much, as you can see by the 68,000 miles, but it was always exercised and was taken out at least once a year for service and to renew the PA State Inspection, which is current. I have a copy of the original title in her name. This car is so nice that it could be entered into shows and competitions for Buicks. A Buick dealer could put this car right on the showroom floor as an attraction. You may find restored Electras for sale, but a car is only original once. This car cannot be replicated by any restoration shop for any price. This is an Electra 225 with the following equipment and options:original 455cid, 10.25:1 compression ratio, 370 HP, 510 lb-ft V8 engineautomatic transmissionclimate control with A/Coriginal Sonomatic radio which workspower windowspower lockscruise controlpower seatssteering wheel rim horn buttonremote outside mirrorpower steering and brakeselectric trunk release 1970 was known as the best year for horsepower in GM engines. It was the peak horsepower in the last days before emissions controls and restrictions. This car has the 1970-only high-compression (10.25:1) 455 V8 with 370 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque. No 455 before or since has been rated at that horsepower, and in 1971 the compression ratio was dropped to 8:1 to comply with emissions restrictions and unleaded fuel. Included with this car is a copy of the original title and the original owner's manual. This car carries what appears to me to be all-original paint, and it has never had any known bodywork or paintwork. The paint is in very good original condition with no oxidation, wear or body rust. To be absolutely nit-picky, there are a few tiny stone nicks where the metal is exposed and surface oxidized and a few small dings (garage wear). That's it. The body panels are straight and clean. The chrome and stainless trim are shiny and look very good for the age. The underside of the car is oustandingly clean as well. The vinyl top is in superb condition- it isn't shrunken, cracked or worn. It looks beautiful and it fits just like new. The interior of the car is all original, with very nice seat upholstery, carpet and plastics. The original weatherstripping is in good condition. This interior shows that this car was cared for very well since new, with very little wear of any kind. There is one small burn hole in the driver's seat cushion, the owner said she never smoked, but that this happened from a mechanic back in the 1970s. The carpets are very nice, but with a little dirt/wear at the entry points in the back seat. This car starts, runs and drives perfectly. The car is literally silent down the road. There is not one squeak, rattle or shimmy. The car is tight, solid and has a commanding presence on the road. Literally every control, every switch and every button feel tight and solid to the touch. The doors open and close without so much as the slightest rattle- they are solid like a bank vault door. This car runs and drives superbly well; it will go 70 mph on the highway all day. This car is completely reliable and dependable. I would not hesitate to get in this car and drive to California and back. Under the hood is clean and original, and looks very nice. The underside of the car is superbly solid and clean. The air conditioning system is fully intact including the belt and the compressor turns freely. I was told that the A/C works but there is no way to test this in January in Ohio. This is without question one of the finest 1970 Buick Electras available in the entire world. It is a truly exceptional automobile in beautiful original condition. This car is kept in my heated warehouse in Willoughby, OH.
